Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" album becomes the latest release to join the 10 million-sellers club, as it crosses the mammoth threshold this week. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the band's debut set - released in 2000 - sold another 3,000 this week, bringing its to-date total in the U.S. to just over 10 million. It's the 20th album to sell 10 million since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. Since 1991, the highest selling album - according to SoundScan - is Metallica's self-titled 1991 release, which has moved 15.8 million. Shania Twain's "Come On Over" is in second place with 15.5 million and Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill" is in third with 14.8 million. "Hybrid Theory" debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 chart dated Nov. 11, 2000 and eventually peaked at No. 2 on Jan. 12, 2002. "Hybrid Theory" also happens to be one of only four 10-million sellers that did not reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Thanks for the report to Billboard.

LP had that rare combination of the right sound, attitude, look and promoters / label backing at the right time. I dont want them to go backwards stylistically, but it would be great if they could recapture that raw energy they used to have.

In The End, it doesn't even matter, they are already One Step Closer to be Forgotten By Myself. They are Pushing Me Away with their new music.

It's still a great debut album in my opinion. They definitely did their style well. I know there's a lot of hate for their newer stuff but I still think Living Things is the closest they've gotten to their old sound in 5 years.

You're about 7 years late, UG. Hybrid Theory was certified 10X platinum on January 7th, 2005, according to RIAA.com

Platinum doesn't mean that you sold 1Mil. records. Platinum means how many are in circulation. I.E. Bands go platinum before selling 1 million records.

back when this album came out, i was in a band in High school and the other members were forcing me to cover a couple of Linkin Park songs. at that time i was caught with this idea of "rap-metal/nu-metal sucks", so i quit to join a death band. after seeing this article, i tried to listen their songs in youtube.. Theyre actually good, im currently listening to Meteora album right now.. Im still not gonna buy their records though, but now atleast i gave them a proper listen.

I actually listened to this album all the way through the other day at work. It still sounds remarkably good. Sure, Chester Bennington's lyrics don't have the same appeal for me as they did when I was in high school, but my goodness, there are some fantastic riffs and brilliant rhythm section stuff going on on this record.
