I don't know where to about...oh forget it...
How about 'who cares?' The thing is voted for by the public, so of course 'flash in the pan' artists are gonna be the main course. That's why it's called popular music. Doesn't mean shit to the real music scene. Just a revenue raiser.
I used to think awards like Grammys and Vmas were super important. Until I realized who those awards were given to. As long as the music is important to you, I think that's the biggest reward.
What's the point of even hosting these awards? The same talentless ****s are going to get it anyway.
eh nothing shocking here. I don't really watch stuff like this anymore just because it's always the same winners and the usual outcome. None of the awards matter
Linkin Park - Alternative Rock Hahahahaha, that just sums up the accuracy of this shit-fest right there!
The lowest ratings of any AMA show in history. 21% drop in viewers from last year. Seems like no one wants to hear lip synced performances from artists that for the most part sound alike. 60s psychedlia, 70s funk & whats now "classic rock", 80 synth pop, 80s hair/thrash/death/black metal, 90s grunge and hip hop explosion, rave music, poppunk...what was the big defining genre in 2000-2010? Things like revivals of genres that already happened, or reunions of bands from 10+ years ago dont really count as "new music" even if they cough up a new album. I dont accept that all of a sudden people are being less creative, so the only other thing would be the music industry putting out the same bland stuff over and over. The record companies all being owned by a small handfull of companies that also own the radio stations and other media make a bad thing worse. On the plus side we're past due for something really different to emerge.
I gotta agree with this. There's no defining genre, but that being said, we may just have to look deeper. ATM, we have a lot of hybrid genres that seem to define this decade. Extreme metal will provide the answers I'd probably have to say the 'djent' scene is the most diverse cornerstone we have.
This is why we have bands like Animals as Leaders and Periphery. Djent. Essentially jazz but just in heavy metal form. These people have a knowledge of music theory that is severly lacking in so many artists these days.
I think the most creativity now is outside of America. Scandinavia is where all the good stuff is coming from now... if you like doom and melodeath anyway
If this is really the way America thinks, Rock/Metal doesn't stand a chance. I feel sorry for the younger generations getting this crap shoved down their throats.
Mmmh, finally proof that Linkin Park are on Level with Justin Bieber.
Weell, I guess the avatar kinda gives away that I'm a big Linkin Park fan. Anyways, I've liked them for a while, but lately I've been unhappy with them, the live performances are going down, they used to be amazing live, but now.... Ehhhh...
Yup i just didn't like their performance. Almost everyone was sitting during it, it was such an insult
      Sewage Rat
We all know everything mentioned in the article is shit....but Gangnam Style with MC Hammer :OOOO
UG sure is talking a lot about Justin Bieber.. when are the Bruno Mars articles coming?
Best New Artist - Carly Rae Jepsen; I thought that song was meant to be a joke? Favourite Album - Nicki Minaj - "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded"; The horror! BRB while I go smash all of my gear against the wall in futility. What happened to the days when popular meant Led Zep, Sabbath, Bowie, U2, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine etc?
The other thing that is offending me is the fact they called Linken Park alternative.
The AMA's took the proverbial dump on 3 things last night. America. Music. And awards.
Why no category for Rock... on second thoughts, I'm glad there was none. Nickelback would have won, and I would have killed myself in shame.
am i the only one that thinks it's funny that in the AMERICAN music awards, they don't spell it "favorite"... lol i mean it doesn't actually matter i just think it's funny
