The New Zealand PJ Harvey inspired band may be really unknown one, but it's totally worth to listen.

And They Were Masked, the band which Lorde was formerly in, revealed their album "Characters" via Bandcamp.

As NME notes, the songs date back to 2011-2012, when Lorde was better known as Ella Yelich O'Conner. A list of And They Were Masked's influences on Facebook cites the Mars Volta, Fugazi, PJ Harvey, Bloc Party, Battles, Massive Attack, At the Drive-In and Dirty Three. Lorde's vocals featured on tracks "Sands of John" and "Piece of Mind."

Yes, this band is mostly can be known by Lorde's presence, who has become the young music sensation is 2013 with her smash hit "Royals," but their music is definitely worth to listen, because it doesn't sounds like anything made by average starter band. You may hear a few tunes off it yourself below and even purchase the album here.

This article's grammar is worse than your average 2nd grader.

You never saw printed word with bad grammar 20-25 years ago....with the advent of the internet (and societal issues) that's all changed.....

It's a written equivalent of a singer being completely off key throughout the entire song.

Are they taking the p*** with the grammar stuff now? This is one of the worst I've read in a while. I know a lot of the writers for the site don't speak English as a first language, and its cool they write articles in English to get a wider audience, but you will put that wider audience off with poorly written stuff like this. If you really are having trouble with the proofreading thing hit me up I'll do some, loads of people on the site would.

You probably need a whole army of UG readers to proof read stuff for the site. I think UG might just have the answer to all our economic problems right here.

You know, if you aren't familiar with the band, then the article title makes ABSOLUTELY NO sense: Lorde's Former Band And They Were Masked's Album 'Characters' Revealed Totally seriously, I thought it was saying that Lorde's former band used to wear masks and be in character, and now they were unmasking and revealing themselves. I mean, if I can be THAT far off....

Um, what? This is about Lorde, that little 16 year old heroin addict who babbles into a mic about avoiding being rich.

Sweet Jesus. Stop giving so much attention to this talentless knobber, UG. By the way, both songs she sang on sound like shit. Why am I not surprised? Also, did a monkey write the article? More info on:

Yes she played one Nirvana song at the Rock Hall of Fame, do you need to post articles about her constantly like she's Dave Grohl?

Yeah...the first two they had were just boring and dear god that singer just has no sense of how to create a decent melody....the middle two were ok and i liked the blessed spaniard until he started singing

Anyone else think these songs are just as terrible as the poorly written article? the guy couldn't hit a damn note in the first song

Dear UG, don't mention PJ Harvey in the same sentence with such hacks again.
