Mayhem Fest 2013: First Confirmed Acts Announced

The leader in American metal fests for the past 5 years now, the folks over at the Mayhem Fest camp have announced the first confirmed acts for next year's festival.

For the past 5 years, the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival has been leading the charge in the touring festival department. Other festivals such as the Maryland Death fest have been going on longer, but none have rivaled the size and intensity of Ozzfest like Mayhem has. With Ozzfest continually being put on hold year after year recently, it's only a matter of time until The Prince of Darkness hangs up his coat with Ozzfest and lets someone else take the reigns.

With big acts such as Slayer, Slipknot, Disturbed, Korn, Rob Zombie and Marylin Manson having been on the bill in years past, the festival is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. With both older and established acts mixing with younger and up and coming acts, Mayhem Fest has proven year after year that old heads and newer fans of the genre can come together in celebration of their mutual love of one of the strongest and most enduring art forms in the musical world. Last year saw 3 legends of the genre (Slayer, Anthrax and Motorhead) playing with newer bands such as As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada, and Asking Alexandria.

Rumors for next year's lineup have been flying like crazy recently and if you've been paying close attention to them, some big names have been getting thrown around. The leading ones are Overkill, Cannibal Corpse, Lamb Of God, Hatebreed, System of A Down, and Rammstein. Kevin Lyman has even been quoted as saying that he's been trying for the last few years to get Rammstein on the bill but the issue with getting them on has been money. Last year they sacrificed the 2nd side stage to get Slipknot on the bill, so hopefully this is a good sign of things to come for next year.

Two of those rumors have been confirmed on the Facebook page. Those 2 confirmed bands are Lamb Of God, and Hatebreed. A video was posted earlier giving solid evidence of the 2 confirmed bands.

Bloody awesome! I wish I was going to see this festival... It's got a pretty good line-up (but that is a matter of opinion for some...)

Pantallica: If you read very carefully , you might see I just called those bands shit. So yes, there is a great chance that I listen to at least one of those newer bands. /sarcasm

C'mon... If you like metal, especially slayer, chances are that you listen to atleast one of those newer bands. As I Lay Dying has a pretty stout following in the U.S. and are arguably one the best metal acts out there right now.

    >High On Fire not worth mentioning in this, apparently. Anyway, I still want to know why this is called a metalfest when half the bands or more aren't metal. I could see it being called an "extreme music" fest or something, but the whatevercore bands have more to do with punk than metal when it comes to influence and lineage. Just throwing it out there. Not being "elitist" just being honest and truthful.

My after party (during Korn headlining) is still the one to be topped...according to their road crew. They still talk about it...lol

I agree Mastodon would be great!! Slipknot was cool, Godsmack, and Disturb was great. I have to say in the last 5 years it's gonna be hard to top!!

Tool, In Flames and Shadows Fall would be awesome! I wouldn't hold your breath for Slayer. If you have heard one Slayer song, you have heard them all.

The last Mayhem Festival I attended was with 5FDP,Lamb of God,Zombie, & Korn....Korn did an okay performance didn't wow me or even seem like they were to into it. Just felt like something was missing. However, that said, 5FDP, Lamb of God exceeded my expectations and put on an awesome concert. The winner of the night was Zombie, his was insanely wonderful, guess since Korn followed him their's felt a little off....Can't wait for this years, kind of hoping for Halestorm to sign on.. :/

Cannibal Corpse and Bring Me The Horizon on the same stage... What has the world come to? Leave BMTH on Warped Tour so Oliver Sykes has an abundance of young girls with colored hair and piercings to urinate on. Cannibal Corpse would make them look like NSYNC anyway.
