Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth And Anthrax To Tour Together?

Should this tour materialize, this would be the first time that the so-called "Big Four" of thrash have toured together as part of the same bill.

Slayer guitarist Kerry King has told U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine that he has heard through the grapevine that Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich is plotting a tour that would include Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax.

Should this tour materialize, this would be the first time that the so-called "Big Four" of thrash have toured together as part of the same bill. Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax were joined by opening act Alice In Chains for the U.S. Clash Of The Titans tour in 1991, while Metallica and Megadeth last shared a U.K. stage at Milton Keynes Bowl in 1993.

In an interview conducted yesterday (Wednesday, September 2) in London, Metal Hammer asked Kerry if there had been a temptation to bring the co-headline tour that Slayer are about to embark on with Megadeth in Australia and Canada to U.K. shores.

"I think it would be cool but I knew we had this planned before all of this Megadeth stuff started happening," said King. "They're going to Australia with us, they're going to Canada again with us. I think it would be cool for the European fans to bring that over here because, shit, we didn't even consider playing with those guys since 1990."

So could it be possible that we could get a tour that includes the "Big Four?"

"I've heard people referencing Lars," said King. "I don't know Lars that well and I haven't heard it from Lars, but apparently he's talking to somebody about it. Maybe us, Metallica, Megadeth (and), I think he even threw in Anthrax and I said in this day and age, I know we had that time together, but how do you leave out Machine Head? There's better options than ANTHRAX and that's nothing against Anthrax, but they've just been in pieces for quite some time and that doesn't make as much sense to me."

Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

If not anthrax what about EXODUS or TESTAMENT. Make it a thrash tour. Or add Overkill, not ****in machine head.

Iron Maiden is 10000 times as good as Metallica, and I would hope that even a Metallica fan would know that.

KERRY KING YOU FUCKIN SUCK! He makes Slayer look bad...and they are in no position to say anthrax shouldnt play! Anthrax is the only guys that havent been puttin out crap like the other 3 big bands...maybe they knew better!

wow, did someone say f*in amazing? that would be beyond that!!!! would be wicked without any doubts.

this will NEVER happen because Dave Mustaine is too much of a whiny *****, need proof? look up that UG interview with him where he rants about being listed as that number one metal guitarist, and brings up the fact that hes finally "beaten" metallica at something, can you imagine the shit storm that would take place on a daily basis? (no, I WANNA HEADLINE, WHY THE FUCK DOES METALLICA GET TO HEADLINE, WAH-WAH-WAH!!!) Sorry dave Statistically metallica always has been a bigger band than yours, thats why they're headlining, is that okay with you, your magesty? Whos Kerry King to say that Machine Head deserve a spot OVER anthrax? This is another reason why this'll never happen, Kerry King is a ****in *****, and its well known that him and Dave Mustaine are two egomaniacs that have ALWAYS shit-talked eachoter. Good-luck making this happen, its about as likely as another pink floyd reunion, Dave Mustaine playing the part of Roger Waters to Lars' and Kerry Kings' David Gilmour, HE CAN'T GET ALONG WITH EITHER OF THEM FOR LONG ENOUGH TO DO SOMETHING MEANINGFUL.
    SGofawesome
Sorry, but I don't see Mustaine agreeing to tour with Tallica. And why not get Anthrax AND Machine Head on the tour?[/quote]First off, the OLD Dave that didn't have crap goin on in his life wouldn't agree in a million years, but now, the way he's shaped up, he wouldn't refuse because he'd look like a fake, liar, and other names because he's been telling people he is a new man. Refusing would just put him back at the bottom, even though he is the best Metal guitarist, his rep is terrible. Second of all, putting machine head in the tour, along with Anthrax, would be cool, but stupid. It definitely would be a cool show, but that's why it's the "Fearsome Four" (by the way that is the actual name for those people who say it's the "Big 4"). It's not the fearsome "five". Anthrax is worthy of the fearsome four just as much as Machine Head, it's just the fact that Machine Head was like all other thrash bands at the time, so they didn't stick out like Anthrax. Anthrax was ahead of their time, just like the other three, especially Slayer. By the way if such a tour happened, there probably wouldn't be a headlining band, because they all deserve it. If they did the most likely would, of course be Metallica, but that's only because they earned it. They worked all their career really hard, consistently made good albums, except of course after ReLoad up until Death Magnetic, and most of the people on this website bash Metallica because of stupid reasons like htey're too mainstream or they took Dave's songs. That's stupid. They're mainstream because most of the world like their music. I feel the idea of mainstreaming music is stupid. It's played a lot for a reason, because IT IS GOOD!!!

i honestly dont think metallica and megadeth would ever tour together. they just hate eachother way too much. i mean come on. dave mustaine and metallica dont really get along. they stole the mechanix from him and re wrote it to be the four horsemen which is a crappy version of the song. and dave banged kirks girlfriend before he left the band. and even if they do theyll probably cancel the tour half way or someone will leave because theyll fight too much and just annoy the crap put of everyone. plus they need iron maiden on the tour just cuz they kick ass(=

That was my idea. And throw in a whole bunch of new thrash bands i.e. Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust, Warbringer, and make it a worldwide thrash celebration festival with multiple stages etc

If it's supposed to be "real thrash", then like I said, Testament deserves the spot more than Anthrax does. Hell, I also agree that Exodus deserves the spot more than Slayer. Slayer is kind of like the Slipknot of their time: they play talentless music, and all the fanboys cream their pants for them. Besides, nowhere in the article did it state that it was to be JUST the Big Four.

I don't know about this, I don't think Dave and Lars would get along too well. There'd be a lot of things said, and in the end, it would make Dave look like an *****, which isn't true.

I think they should keep the Big 4 on the bill, even though I believe Testament deserves the spot more than Anthrax does. Maybe have a real metal festival, unlike these crap festivals out now. Keep the Big 4, add on Testament, Exodus, and Machine Head.

    100 percent agree.
    FearOfTheDuck
Oh my god, that would be immense! I think the world will crack from the sheer awsomeness if this tour happened! Anthrax should definatly be included, if they can settle down with a singer. If not Testament are the best other option! I've seen all of the bands apart from Anthrax, and Metallica have had the best atmosphere and connection with the audience. Followed by Slayer then Megadeth.

I understand why Kerry said that and I respect him as much as anyone in metal, but I think Anthrax would still be a way bigger draw than Machine Head.
