Controversial pop star Miley Cyrus and Oklahoma rockers the Flaming Lips have confirmed joining forces in the studio for a cover of Beatles classic "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds."

Soon after hitting the studio, the duo got high and posted in on Instagram. "Yup ... Recordin' with Miley ... High as f--k...," wrote frontman Wayne Coyne, along with the photo of Miley and signature Bangerz rolling paper.

A day after, Coyne confirmed the involvement of MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden, noting, "Miley in the studio vomiting diamonds while singing 'Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds!' If you're a Beatles and John Lennon freak you gonna love love love this track! Got Andrew from MGMT too!"

The love between an unlikely duo escalated during Miley's latest tour, as Flaming Lips joined the singer on one of the dates for a cover of their "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" track. Cyrus didn't hesitate to share massive praises for the band, telling the crowd, "I hope I can inspire you guys as much as the Flaming Lips have inspired me and encouraged me to always be myself and to make music because I love it and always invent something new for my fans.

"So as much as you guys are fans, I'm a true fan of these amazing guys right here. You guys don't understand what the f--k is happening to me right now ... I'm f--king so scared," Miley added, just to have Wayne respond, "Now I'm scared."

    No one cares.
Agreed. That Dark Side of the Moon remake that the Flaming Lips did was awesome. But with Miley involved, I am not looking forward to this one.
This could either be the worst thing Wayne's ever done, or the best thing Miley's ever done. Finger's crossed nobody gets killed over this.
Since when is it socially acceptable to post pictures of yourself doing drugs? I mean she probably has younger fans, is that what they should grow up like?
Pot isn't a drug. If they were in Colorado or Washington they did nothing illegal. Her younger fans should have parents who monitor what they take in. I hate Miley Cyrus, and I hate that the Flips went from opening for Tool to this, but as far as your comment… I disagree. They're adults and should be able to do what they want without parentalism coming from the state or you. Except listening to Altered Bridge. That's shit's terrible for you.
If it's not a drug, what does it get used for? Hint: medicine also is drugs. I mean I have nothing against pot, enjoy it meself, but I do have a problem with delusional attitudes about it. It's drugs. Tobacco is drugs. Alcohol is drugs. Cough syrup is drugs. Pot is drugs too. I'm a drug addict and I would never delude myself into thinking otherwise.
@biff022 - The fact that you're getting downvotes for your comments depresses me. I agree with it all 100%. I love the Flaming Lips and I'm a little puzzled at why they're working with Miley Cyrus... it's kinda like if Porcupine Tree recorded with Ke$ha. I guess it'll get them a little attention/money and FL deserve it. If you're an adult and can't handle seeing adults smoking pot... close your eyes, permanently disconnect from the internet, lock yourself in your house and give yourself a lobotomy while you're at it. Grow up maybe?

Missing the point. He claims pot isn't a drug when it clearly is. Look up the definition of drug. Travislauch hit the nail on the head. ( i smoke just about every day so i'm not against it in anyway) but you're lying to yourself when you say it isn't a drug.
See… victims of DARE holding onto nonsense terms like gateway drug. Sure, you can say it's all "drugs" but that's not the point and is a non-relevent tangent that really doesn't say anything except that you missed my point. The poster I responded to insinuated that he was offended by the fact that illicit drug use was portrayed… as if it was some horrible image of junkies with kids on the subway. In the states I mentioned, pot is as legal recreationally as beer. If this was a pic of Wayne and Miley drinking a beer, no one would've mentioned it. Sure it's all "drugs" but to lump it all together and insinuate that they're all the same like travislausch did, well, it's just incorrect, and the dipshit knee jerk reaction that the readers at UG had with down votes, well that's just typical. Perhaps I misspoke and yea, it's a drug (then pollen is a drug too since it comes from a plant) according the wider DARE inspired definition. The definition of the word drugs was not my point, and it points to the pissing contest that is the UG boards that the definition of the word was what it came down to in the subsequent comments. Then someone else, who missed the point, says that Abacus11 missed the point? Perfect UG readers. Perfect.
I love how people are chastising her for this, but most of our favorite musicians were massive potheads in the 60s and 70s. For christ's sake.... it's Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds. She never claimed to be a role model. People need to raise their own damn kids and not leave it to celebrities. She's 20 year old with unlimited money and the world in the palm of her hand. I don't even want to imagine what I would've been like if I were in her shoes.I don't like her music, but I don't understand why people hate her so much. You want her to go away? Go make some awesome music and put it out there. Also, I like that she has her own brand of rolling papers. That's when you really know you've made it.
Take your logical and sensitive comment out of here. We're trying to mindless hate on a pop-star while ignoring the fact that our favorite musicians were/are reckless, cocky, alcoholic, drug addicts. We have no room for logic here on UG.
Great. After making Kurt Cobain roll in his grave with that cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit, she intends to do the same to Lennon and Harrison.
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds isnt even about drugs. Are they getting high because they are working with her or because of the song?
I don't care what they say. That song is about LSD. Maybe it was inspired by a picture Julian Lennon drew, but the song is most definitely about drugs.
Had to check the age of Wayne Coyne... Would never imagine a man in his 50s writing something a teenager might have written. I'm glad i grew out of that phase years ago, and I'm still in my early 20s... That said, not a fan of Flaming Lips, and definitely not a fan of Miley Cyrus. Still, if they find it fun, go ahead.
What the hell? Those pics are beyond ridiculous! Shows how much effort she puts into her vocal sessions. I'd still show her a good time tho
