Moby has premiered a cover version of Duran Duran's 80s hit "Rio" - scroll down to listen.
As NME notes, the track is one of many cover versions set to appear on forthcoming Duran Duran tribute album "Making Patterns Rhyme," due for release in July with proceeds going to Amnesty International.
Moby's take on "Rio" is a drastically slowed-down version of the track featuring an as-yet-unnamed female singing the lyrics made famous by Simon Le Bon. Other contributers to the LP include Warpaint, who will take on "The Chaffeur," Liars ("Ordinary World") and Little Dragon ("Save a Prayer").
Organisers Manimal Vinyl say they "intentionally chose album cuts and B-sides rather than the worldwide smash hits that Duran Duran are known for."
The full tracklisting for the record is as follows:
01. Warpaint - The Chauffeur 02. Little Dragon - Save a Prayer 03. Barbarian - Late Bar 04. Service Bells - Anyone Out There? 05. Louise Burns - Land 06. The Holiday Crowd - Friends of Mine 07. Beliefs - Sound of Thunder 08. Juliette Lewis - TBA 09. Moby - Rio 10. Allison Iraheta and Halo Circus - Do You Believe in Shame? 11. Liars - Ordinary World
Moby's last album "Innocents" was released in October of last year, however since then the singer has also contributed to various projects aside from his current involvement in "Making Patterns Rhyme." This year the musician remixed and directed a video for David Lynch single "The Big Dream," while last year he teamed up with Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips for single "A Perfect Life."
