Kate Hudson and Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy are engaged, the actress announced on "The Today Show" on April 27. Hudson, who is pregnant with the rocker's child, showed off her engagement ring and told "Today" host Matt Lauer that the proposal happened about a week ago.

"He's a beautiful man and I'm very excited", says Hudson of Bellamy, whom she started dating in spring 2010. Hudson was previously married to Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson, who is the father of the actress' seven-year-old son, Ryder.

Her marriage news comes as something of a surprise. Although she and Bellamy, 32, have been inseparable since her pregnancy announcement, she said in January, "I don't feel it necessary to get married... I already have one child, and have had one divorce, so it is not necessarily the golden ticket. I just want to be happy."

While Hudson is currently promoting her new comedy "Something Borrowed", Bellamy is gearing up for Muse's upcoming string of European dates as well as a headlining gig at Lollapalooza this August.

Thanks for the report to Billboard.com.

Begins? It began with the resistance, and their decision to stop playing OoS. They are cool guys and stuff, and bands have to make stylistic changes, but dude. OoS was genius. Resistance was just a Queen ripoff.

I WILL SETTLE THIS CHILDREN. According to musewiki.org, Neutron Star Collision was written AFTER the Resistance and this is what Matt said about it: "Well actually the song was written, well I don't wanna bring anyone down, when I broke up with girlfriend about 8 months ago or something, and I pretty much wrote that song immediately after that. It was like that song was reflecting on that moment when you first get with someone and everything feels like it's going to go on forever and it's bit of like uh, bit of like a true love sentiment I suppose but for me when I wrote that song, it was quite heavy because it was like a memory of what it used to be like you know? Like when you used to think that way but now obviously it's the complete opposite of that when you break up. So when I'm singing that song, I'm kind of coming from that perspective really. So that song was floating around since about 8 months ago and that song was what I thought would probably be on another album in the future, but it's gonna be a long time until we get to do that, and then obviously these Eclipse, the Twilight people contacted us and um, were very keen to get a song for the film and I just thought 'why not?' you know? Might as well just bug it out there and get it out there because probably the song is representing a difficult period of my life and by the time we get to the next album it might not be relevant anymore because my life might be changed or moved on or something." BUT NONE OF THIS IS RELEVANT TO THE ARTICLE

LOL No, that song is just a corny piece of crap from a band that used to write good music. I don't see what's so bad about that song, in comparison to Muse's other music. I do see what's so bad about that song, in comparison to good music. ...but it's no worse than any other Muse song I've ever heard. Ever. well its pretty clear to me, Matt Bellamy promised Stephanie Meyer years before to write a song if her books ever make it to the silver screen. So when it did he was probably like "oh crap, now i gotta actually write something" so he put together a decent sounding song, that ultimately doesn't match the potential of any of the band members. nevertheless i find it hard to hate on this song, its still easily the best song on the New Moon soundtrack... well, not that i'd really know, but the only other decent musician I can think of that wrote for Twilight is Florence & The Machine. Its just corny and theres no power. You lose the artistic integrity that you hear in any other MUSE song. You're basically saying that "Map of the Problematique" sounds like "Neutron Star". Just the opening chord of "Map" completely obliterates "Neutron Star", just like almost any other MUSE song would.
no, actually, it's just a song that they had, and had written it with all of the resistance stuff, didn't put it on the album, then the Twilight people were like can you write a song, and muse were like we've got this one were not going to use

i was gonna say how Im happy most people are positive but **** this guy! Resistance is awesome. I've been a Muse fan since Absolution and yes im not gonna lie and say I've been a fan since OOS or Showbiz. I loved Absolution and OOS, I felt Showbiz was a singles album and Blackholes was good but not great. But shit! Resistance was so epic. Id like anyone to attempt to do what they did. United States of Eurasia is so awesome because of its orchestral rock opera theme. And Exogenesis just sent it over the top. It had like a couple Queen instances but so did Blackholes. Furthermore the entire album other than the couple times in Euasia and the solo in Guiding Light sounded NOTHING like Queen. So unless you can come up with something better, and do what they have done. Shut your stupid whorish mouth because you are nobody. Anywho, I apologize for any vulgarity but I simply dont put up with bullshit. I know Matthew Bellamy may never see this but.. Matt, Congrats you are lucky man not just for shackling up with Kate Hudson but you have everything going for you. Kudos my good sir!

interesting, only reason none of this is relevant to the article is cus the only things we can really say about an engagement article on UG is make MUSE puns and give Kate Hudson a 1 to 10 rating instead, its a debate about Neutron Star apparently xP

excuse me? there's so many examples that could disprove this. also, use of melody =/= good music. look at coldplay.

I despair for the future of Muse. wow, they say love is blind, but that was pretty harsh. I dont like her very much either but I am sure Matt Bellamy is intelligent enough to not let her influence his music. Get a grip you moron and maybe laid too, it might make you a happier, less jaded a**hole. Muse is great. And yes, I am a metalhead who appreciates melody.
Yeah, I'm already married, I've been laid plenty of times, thanks. I don't like Kate Hudson, Bellamy is one of my heroes, it's weird to me that the pair of them are together. I apologise for not loving everyone on the planet. Especially someone who drove Owen Wilson to attempt suicide...

They've been dating for a year and she's already divorced one rock musician. Yeah, this will definitely last.
