According to a new report, the death of GWAR frontman Dave Brockie (aka Oderus Urungus) is now being investigated as drug-related.

NBC12 cites "law enforcement sources," noting that the exact cause of death is yet to be determined by the Medical Examiner. The full investigation will include a toxicology report, which could take up to several months.

In his final interview with Andrew Haug, Oderus insisted not doing any drugs and only sticking to alcohol and weed. "I'm not a drug addict, I do like alcohol and I like weed," he said. "And this is one thing I will say to every single band out there - don't get f--ked up with the coke or heroin, all that bulls--t, just drink and smoke weed."

Meanwhile, tributes for the late frontman keep pouring in. Among the others, Oderus was honored during the latest episode of "The Daily Show." Check it out below.

Don't they do toxicology reports on most deaths?
Friend who met and worked with the band when they toured Australia said that they never saw anything to suggest there was use of hard drugs going on at all. Plenty of alcohol and weed around, but no one appearing to be on anything harder nor acting in a suspicious way. RIP...
He could have been a closet crack head or dope head.some people are good at hiding it...I do not mean any disrespect on the guy and i hope it is not true.I have been Gwar fan since the 80s my respect goes to all family friends band mates rip
best wishes to his family. can't see him making a statement like that and then it being drug related. mind you metal musician it's the first thing the police will presume sadly
I can say that I hope anti-weed gronks don't use this as part of their proof weed is harmful, but that's probably not realistic.
This is no surprise to me. He said in his last statement "I'm going to go hard 'til the day I die" and "drink alcohol and smoke weed." If that was his philosophy, no wonder something happened to him. I love metal, hell, I love to party, but at Oderus' age, rockstars need to start taking better care of themselves. Too sad. R.I.P. man.
