Opeth and In Flames Announce 2014 North American Tour With Red Fang
152
This December, Opeth and In Flames will embark on a co-headlining string of dates with Red Fang as direct support.

"We are delighted to return to North America to tour our latest album 'Pale Communion,'" says Opeth's Mikael Akerfeldt. "This will be the first of two North American Tours and the fact that we are teaming up with our old friends In Flames for this co-headline tour means that we can get to play some large venues and present our new stage show. I am also looking forward to drinking expensive whiskey with Anders [Friden] on his account!"

In Flames frontman Anders Friden adds: "I met Mikael for the first time in 1998 during the recording of Opeth's album 'My Arms, Your Hearse.' I was working in the studio and we've been friends ever since. Now 16 years more beautiful, we release albums in the same cycle and it's with great honor and pleasure that In Flames share stage with our friends and fellow countrymen in Opeth."

Opeth's highly anticipated 11th album is set for an August 26 release date. In Flames will also be supporting their 11th record, "Siren Charms" while touring with Opeth. "Siren Charms" will hit fans on September 9.

Getting tired of that shit. Same InFlames tour in Europe, we get Papa Roach and random guests. US gets Opeth and Red Fang. FML.

I, for one, am extremely excited. Opeth puts on a great live show (Akerfeldt is hilarious) and In Flames has been on the top of my list for a long time. Now I just need to get to 2112.

The thing is: It's not technically "In Flames" anymore.

and what is it that makes In Flames "In Flames" exactly? Your opinion? They've been changing for years now this is not the first time they have strayed from Melo-death. Its the same members (cept for Jester and I guess some consider him "in flames" entirely)so how is it not In Flames? don't like it, don't listen. But don't get on these guys for creative choices when they really only should make music for themselves right? If that's what they felt like making, that's up to them. Doesn't mean you have to like it. Im sick of all the fans thinking its ALL about them. Yea they should be somewhat appreciative of us and put on a great show when they play, but they should still make music for them. Like Linkin Park they make music for themselves, its up to everyone else whether or not they wanna like it. Rant over.

My opinion? How about an original founding member of the band?
    the_bi99man
Exactly. "An" original founding member. If you start with the lineup on the first album where Jesper stopped hiring session dudes, and actually formed a band, there's still two original members. And the drummer is the same guy who's been there for well over a decade. And even the guitarist who's come in to replace Jesper has been an occasional touring guitarist for them as far back as 97. So... yeah. The original guy is gone, but it's still the band that everyone has known for many years.

What anyone sees in this waste if talent is beyond me. Guy can write great prog rock, but cannot rise above his death metal fantasies. Its like listening to Dark Side of the Moon, when all of a sudden Roger Waters starts doing a hilariously bad cookie monster impersonation.

I cannot seriously take anyone who refers to death metal vocals as "cookie monster impersonation".

Gotta love how Opeth haters (at least the ones who hate the death metal aspect), just act like the last album doesn't exist.

Already got my VIP passes for the Minneapolis show, so pumped. Now I just need to find a way to get there

What is with all these Awesome Fucking tours that are just ignoring the NW region like the plague, I get wanting to establish and keeping up with fans around the area (And you can't get to everyone). But After the Burial, Periphery, Intervals, The Contortionist, now Opeth AND In Flames are all like....**** that corner.

I was listening to In Flames the other day and thought to myself "hm, these guys would be killer to see live." Sure enough, 5 hours later I get a notification from my concert app saying they announced a tour. It was such an "aha!" moment.

See em. I'm sure it'll be awesome. And with mother****in Opeth and Red Fang? Jaysus. I'm looking into going to the San Fran show.

in flames used to be cool til they went all f4ggy with pop-metal vocals and weak riffs. ahh, good ol americanized influences. they should def tour with babymetal.

By the way you do realize Reroute to Remain is a 12 year old album now? It's hardly even "New In Flames".
    Bart123
Yeah well, a lot of people think otherwise. I've listened to all of their albums and never stopped liking them. Looking forward to Siren Charms too. Am I turning into a fag? I don't think so..

Lunar Strain is generally received as a bit shitty and poorly defined... A classic example of being "More Melodeath" doesn't always mean "More good"
