OutKast Announce 40-Date World Festival Tour

OutKast have announced that they will play 40 festivals this summer, NME reports.

Earlier this month (January 9), the duo revealed that they would be making their live comeback headlining Coachella Festival in California alongside Muse and Arcade Fire in April.

They subsequently announced another headline slot at New York's Governors Ball festival, which takes place June 6-8 on Randall's Island.

According to Pitchfork, the reformed duo have now announced a 40-date full world festival tour "to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their unique and influential sound." While the exact dates are yet to be announced, the first gig on the mammoth stretch will be at Coachella.

"It's truly an honour to celebrate 20 years and still be free to do music the way we choose," Big Boi said in a statement. "Don't just think outside the box, know that there is no box. I'm looking forward to rocking the stage with my Bro Ski and to all the fans - stank you smelly much, this is for y'all!"

Andre 3000 added: "And imagine, all we wanted to do was rap! I am thankful to have been a part of a group that allowed me to explore anything that came to mind and have fun doing it. Returning to the stage together is the most exciting way for us to thank everyone for their 20 years of supporting OutKast."

OutKast went on hiatus in 2007 and have not performed together since 2004, each enjoying solo success in the subsequent years. This year is the 20th anniversary of the pair's 1994 debut album "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik."

In the other news, the band is reportedly making new music, according to Consequence of Sound.

During an appearance on the Howard Stern Show this morning, the duo's ex-manager Queen Latifah spoke briefly about her time as head of management company Flavor Unit. Seemingly unaware of the duo's reunion, Stern asked Latifah what happened to OutKast, to which she responded, "They're chilling ... They're doing movies ... They're about to work on a new album."

Latifah was quick to add, however, that she no longer manages OutKast. She also made no mention of their upcoming tour, and before she could divulge any other info, Stern moved on to a different topic.

Listen to the interview below.

I was at home during Christmas at the bar downtown. Everyone was singing depressing songs. So I sang Hey Ya to try to lift the mood. They went back to their depressing songs after. I left.

Hey Ya has an uplifting melody, but I believe the lyrics are about a married couples divorce isn't it?

I don't know much about this band, but I was very surprised to see so much excitement from this site's readers. I now have a new group to check out.

It's a little surprising, but even though this website is a metalheads dream, and many of us seem to belittle each other on our opinions...I honestly believe the majority of the people who go to this site have good taste in MUSIC...and Outkast makes great music.

They should apologise for going on such a long hiatus... "We are fo' reeeeal! Never meant to make our fans cry, we apologise a trillion times!"

Outkast? On a GUITAR website? Tabs to follow: ENTIRE OUTKAST DISCOGRAPHY ----- Start tab ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- end of tab.

You've clearly never heard Outkast. Go and masturbate over James Hetfield, or whatever it is you people do when not ignorantly bashing other genres. There's plenty of guitar in Outkast, it's just not the main event.

Calm the hell down dude. It was funny. And not sure what masturbating to metallica has to do with anything, but sounds like a good time, tell ya what! Maybe the three of us can get together sometime for some fun. You can finally wear your tranny panties and stockings without feeling ashamed.

Clearly not the same definition of "funny" as me...

People bandwagon downvote to feel like they can really mess with this guys life but truth is he'll probably never think twice about and it and go **** his wife instead. Who cares and oh no it's an insane comment on an underground guitar website.

"Outkast wit a K, yeah them niggas are hard Harder than a nigga trying to impress God We'll pull your're whole deck, **** pulling your card And still take my guitar and take a walk in the park Any play the sweetest melody the street ever heard Now bitches sucking on my nouns and I'm eating their verbs"

And why is this inferior noise on UG may I ask? I can think of hundreds of bands that deserve articles on a supposed guitar dedicated site that have never been mentioned.
    Vicryl 2.0
cause allot of folks here like this group... please go to your corner and just continue thinking of those hundred bands you had in mind.
