Peaches Geldof, the daughter of Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof and late TV presenter Paula Yates, has died at the age of 25, NME reports.

The news was confirmed shortly after 6pm today (April 7) by BBC News.

Police have said they were called to an address near Wrotham, Kent following a report of concern for the welfare of a woman on Monday afternoon. The 25-year-old woman was later pronounced dead by South East Coast Ambulance Service.

A statement from Kent Police reads: "At this stage, the death is being treated as an unexplained and sudden."

Mother to Astala Geldof–Cohen (aged one) and Phaedra Geldof-Cohen (11 months old), Geldof was married to former S.C.U.M. frontman Thomas Cohen.

A noted socialite, Geldof began her media career writing a column for Elle Girl magazine at 15. She later presented her own show on ITV2, "OMG! with Peaches Geldof."

Her father, Bob Geldof, said: "We are beyond pain. She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us.

"What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable?"

Channel 4 journalist Ed Fraser has quoted Geldof's husband, Thomas Cohen as saying he will bring up the couple's two children "with their mother in their hearts everyday." He commented:

Thomas Cohen: My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself & her 2 sons and I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts everyday

    man. Rest in peaches.
I know I shouldn't be laughing at this. But... oh god, my sides. Oh well, I didn't plan to go to heaven anyways.
ive already accepted that if there is a hell, im goin there.....ohh well at least it will be warm and all my friends will be there!
    Too soon.
Shame no-one else looking at this thread spotted the irony in your reply. Especially since the first post was a bit shit.
25 and dying suddenly? This is just shite for her family. I didn't know her but it really is just shit to leave two sons behind at that age.
Bob's really not going to like Mondays now.
I remember making the same joke about 3 minutes after I heard the news and simultaneously feeling pride that I must have been one of the first ones to make it and shame for not even managing 5 minutes without cracking a joke...
My joke was "Turns out his daughter didn't like Mondays either". I hadn't come up with a joke about someone's death that quickly since Michael Jackson.
Yeah, mine was, "I guess Peaches just reeeeaaaallly hated Mondays", so not exactly the same but similar.
Personally I thought she was an incredibly unlikeable person, but obviously wouldn't wish death on her. Feel real sorry for the kids. If its true that she killed herself in part over depression relating to her own mothers death when she was a child, then she has potentially just kept the cycle going with her 2 sons too.
Yeah she was an utter moron who lived off her daddy's fame and provided nothing to society if we're being brutally honest, but two children being raised without their mum is not a nice thought at all.
Where is the need to be a douche?
"If we're being brutally honest". She was, but like I said, the tragedy is the children she left behind and the fact she was so young (i.e. she had a lot of time to grow) but she was pretty much the Paris Hilton of the UK. I think most people are just pretending to care to look like good people.... Already people on twitter have stopped talking about it.
Yeah. Sad story, but I never would have known who this was if she didnt die suddenly.
That's absolute rubbish - as a teenager, and her very early twenties she made some terrible decisions. But as an adult and a parent, she's actually come across very well.
Yep. Just seemed like a normal mother, didn't seem to be into the socialite lifestyle and had the odd TV appearance talking about parenting while doing the odd article.
In her adult life she decided that she "was into Science" so became a Scientologist so not exactly a particularly intelligent person. It was also "in her adult life" that she did most of her stupid stuff given that I'm 21 and was a teenager when most of her stupidity happened. That being said, I stand by what I was getting at. If she'd had a longer life she could have become someone to aspire to be, and it sucks that she died so young, but her dying doesn't suddenly now make her someone to aspire to be.
No one here is saying they aspire to be her. I said early twenties, which is technically adult life - but in the wide scheme of things 20-25 you are still effectively a child in terms of what you truly understand about the world. As a 21 year old, you can not make the assumption that agreeing with elements of scientology makes you unintelligent. You have also described her as an utter moron, based on what you have been told, or have heard. Ignorance is bliss.
*Based on footage I've seen as her. Alright she "presented herself" as an utter moron, which if she was an intelligent person is a weird thing to do. I believe the quote was, "I've really been getting into science recently so I've been reading up on Scientology." That's an utterly idiotic thing to say and an utterly idiotic approach to life. Scientology is a cult, and she wasn't indoctrinated into it, she actually chose to read up and join it. Not a smart thing to do. And that's just one of my points too. I could go on.
Didn't really know who she was, but to leave behind children is just tragic. RIP

This is the first article about a recently dead person where the first two comments are jokes.
It's messed up. She always came across as a bit on edge (probably because of her mother's death) but I never thought she'd die this young.
Sad for the children to lose a young mom, as the saying goes - You live fast .... You die young ....
"Mother to Astala Geldof–Cohen (aged one) and Phaedra Geldof-Cohen (11 months old)" Am I the only one mindfked by this statement ?
The first one could be a 1 year 11 months and 28 days, but people don't go into that much detail when it comes to ages.
I love how the media is supposedly trying to get everyone to sympathize with her "soul-less rich person lifestyle" that was so taxing on her. As if the starving, impoverished kid from a single parent family really relates to her problems. i feel sorry for her family because of their loss, but make no mistake, that's were my sympathy ends. I refuse to feel upset because her lifestyle and being from a wealthy family was so hard on her.
It's really sad to see how so many people are being complete twats about this. RIP Peaches, a young mother who was shat upon by the media because she had a famous dad and apparently did some controversial things. 2 fingers up to all the easily led ****s.
    I'm somewhat relieved that she wasn't 27
No that only happens to talented people.
You're saying untalented people cannot die at the age of 27? Man when I turn 27 in 3 years I'm going to have the time of my life
It's always a tragedy when a young parent dies, regardless of their social standing, whose fame they may have been riding on, etc, etc. My second comment makes me feel like a real *******, but why, why, why do people feel the need to give their kids such "special" names? Makes no sense. Peaches? The poor girl. What, was their a can of peaches on the nightstand when she was born? Whatever happened to Eddy? He was a here, a minute ago!
Why has UG put a rating on this thread? Do we 'dislike' it because someone has died (which is always very sad), or 'dislike' it because we disagree with the premise of the article (i.e. that this story is worthy of attention)? And who the **** liked this thread?
R.I.P. - a terrible tragedy for the family in that kind of ageUG do us a favor and post a short notice when a "Promi" dies ,that kids are dying of starvation caused by war, globalisation etc, everywhere in the world
Everyone's aware of the global problems, why do we need to be constantly made to feel guilty that, by pure random chance, I wasn't born in the third world? People help where they can its not easy..
Poor kids. It won't be easy to grow up without a mother beside them, I suppose. RIP.
