A lucky Pearl Jam fan was called upon to choose the setlist for the band's recent show in Amsterdam at the Ziggo Dome. The show, which took place on June 27, saw Brian Farias of Rhode Island, who has seen the band play 108 times, pick the songs for the night. "I thought I was hearing things when Eddie [Vedder] offered it to me," said Farias, who is a longstanding member of the band's fan club, the Ten Club, to Rolling Stone. Farias made over 40 drafts before coming up with the final setlist, which comprised both fan favourites and rarities. Of compiling it he said: "It was really stressful, because it's something you know is never gonna happen again. You're only getting one shot at it." Of the experience, he added: "It was like programming your iPod and then Pearl Jam show up in your yard and play it for you." Pearl Jam played:
  • Wash
  • Last Exit
  • Animal
  • State of Love and Trust
  • Severed Hand
  • Corduroy
  • I Got Shit
  • Daughter/WMA
  • Nothing As It Seems
  • Got Some
  • Dissident
  • Once
  • Glorified G
  • Deep
  • The Fixer
  • Bugs
  • Better Man
  • Release
  • Hail, Hail
  • Alone
  • Footsteps
  • Rearview Mirror
  • Crown of Thorns
  • Sonic Reducer
  • Alive
  • Baba O'Riley
  • Yellow Ledbetter'/'Little Wing Thanks for the report to Nme.com.

Not a huge fan of Pearl Jam, but what a great opportunity for this guy. If one of my favorite bands let me pick the setlist I'd go crazy.

Or Metallica.. Frayed Ends Of Sanity 20 times. Imagine the pressure picking a setlist like that, still insanely cool.

Their first 7 albums in their entirety. That'd end up being a hell of a show, haha.

Am I the only one that's impressed by the fact that they did 27 songs? lol That's a lengthy concert. Good on them for doing that for a die hard fan.

I think its a great setlist. Pearl Jam is such a killer live band because they can and will pick anything from their entire back catalogue. Its always a surprise, and they don't know what the word "filler" even means. If you only want to hear greatest hits, rip yourself a mix cd.

They should have played the entire Momma-Son mini opera, Alive, Once, and Footsteps in succession. Tells a great story. Otherwise the setlist seems like the best they have played in a long time, the guy knew what he was doing and picked some great not well known PJ songs as well as their hits.

That's an awesome setlist of deep cuts. The only gripe I can come up with is that it's missing some big hits like "Black" and "Jeremy" specifically, but if I was at that show, I won't be complaining. It's a solid set.

OMG, I'm a massive PJ fan and I'd be bitterly disappointed by that setlist. I saw them twice recently and they were phenomenal. I've been to a load of gigs and they we're two of my favourite gigs of all time. Good job Eddie Vedder came up with the setlists for those two shows because if that guy had his way in Manchester, I'd be fuming! He's missing some classics in there! :/ But saying that, if I had the same opportunity, I'm sure some fans would hate me for picking what I wanted. Amazing opportunity...and that's another reason why Pearl Jam are so loved by their fans, amazing band and terribly underrated!

That is a really cool thing to offer a fan considering they might not have played some of those songs for many years. Would be great to see some other bands do this.

I have to admit, it's a good set list. Crown of Thorns for an encore. State of Love and Trust. Footsteps. On the other hand, he should have thrown in Hunger Strike.

Sorry, I'm not a huge PJ fan so I had no idea. Great to see a band play that much at one show...lol I am giving your comment a thumbs up sir!

That's exactly what I was gonna comment until I saw yours! Well done.

Some good stuff, but I'd throw in some different things, naturally. Maybe a couple heavier songs -- Blood and Do the Evolution. Also, I would make Bee Girl the closer.

Ha! I can totally imagine that... Play "This Dying Soul" by Dream Theatre or any Protest The Hero song... (or insert any insane guitar bands name in here) That'd be awesome...
