Phil Anselmo has announced dates for his first ever solo tour, titled "Technicians of Distortion." You can see the full tour dates below.
The tour will kick off on July 31 in Tulsa and run through to August 20 where it will close in Atlanta. He'll be joined by his backing band The Illegals, comprised of his ex-bandmate in Superjoint Ritual guitarist Marzi Montazeri, drummer Jose Manel Gonzales, and bassist Steve Taylor.
Anselmo will release his debut solo album "Walk Through Exits Only" on his label Housecore Records on July 16. It is is first studio album since playing guitar on Arson Anthem's 2010 LP "Insecurity Notoriety," though he's released singles and EPS with both Down and his current solo project in the meanwhile.
"It wasn't about doing a paint-by-numbers thrash or heavy metal record," Anselmo said while describing the project (via Blabbermouth). "It's an angry album that only I could do. I don't see anybody else out there screaming about the same sh-t I'm screaming about. On this album, there isn't any wordplay, there isn't any hidden message, it's all right there in front of you."
He continued: "It's meant to be very unpredictable. When I hear enough of the same thing, I want to rebel. That was a key factor. Right when you think you've got it pegged, it goes in a different direction. That's what keeps things interesting."
