Fan-filmed footage of Phil Anselmo performing Pantera classics at Heavy MTL festival surfaces online, Blabbermouth reports. The former Pantera and current Down frontman dropped a medley of "Domination" and "Hollow" into his set at the event, which took place in Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Watch the video below.
Anselmo released his debut solo album "Walk Through Exits Only" on July 16th 2013. As the singer tells Billboard, he is working on new material to coincide with this year's Housecore Horror festival:
"I know for a fact I do have two songs that I'll release strictly for the upcoming Housecore Horror (film) festival at the end of October in Austin, Texas," Anselmo says. "Those two songs, I think, musically flow together pretty f--kin' well. They're very sarcastic, very tongue-in-cheek. It's all part of the ol' Philip Anselmo f--ked-up world - and I don't mean drunk or wasted. I mean just f--kin' crazy. It's crazy around here!"
Anselmo also notes that, while he wrote 17 songs for his debut, he ultimately decided to go with a "less-is-more" approach:
"I could've put on any number (of songs) I wanted, but for me, these eight songs all together, 40-something minutes, that's my idea of a proper listening length," he tells Billboard. "When you start to get longer it gets a little redundant and boring, and I didn't want to bore anybody."
