Rammstein Announces 2012 Tour

According to Blabbermouth.net, Rammstein, the Berlin-based band known for its incendiary live performances, will bring its brand new live production to North America this spring for 21 dates kicking off April 20 in Ft. Lauderdale. Tickets for the tour, promoted by Live Nation, will go on sale beginning Friday, November 18 and will be available at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com. Demand for Rammstein's pyrotechnic-laden performances has been so great in Europe, where they regularly play capacity level soccer stadiums, the band spent nearly a full decade without setting foot on North American shores. In December 2010, the sextet returned to North America for two sold out shows including a performance at Madison Square Garden. Rammstein followed with a nine-day trek of major North American cities in spring 2011. The Los Angeles Times described the live experience as "epic stagecraft on a Wagnerian scale, several notches up from most arena rock." Rammstein first stormed America in 1998, touring with a set based on their Grammy-nominated breakthrough second release, "Sehnsucht", featuring "Du Hast", the song that brought the world's attention to the band. During their 1998 "Family Values" tour, praise was high, as well as indignation: band members were jailed in the U.S. on indecency charges due to the highly provocative live show. Rammstein "Made In Germany 1995-2011" North American tour dates: 04/20 - Ft. Lauderdale, FL - BankAtlantic Center 04/21 - Tampa, FL - St. Pete Times Forum 04/23 - Atlanta, GA - Philips Arena 04/25 - Baltimore, MD - 1st Mariner Arena 04/26 - Philadelphia, PA - Wells Fargo Center 04/28 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum 04/29 - Worcester, MA - DCU Center 05/01 - Montreal, QC - Bell Centre 05/03 - Cleveland, OH - Quicken Loans Arena 05/04 - Chicago, IL - Allstate Arena 05/06 - Detroit, MI - The Palace of Auburn Hills 05/08 - Minneapolis, MN - Target Center 05/10 - Winnipeg, MB - MTS Centre 05/13 - Vancouver, BC - Rogers Arena 05/14 - Tacoma, WA - Tacoma Dome 05/17 - Anaheim, CA - Honda Center 05/18 - Glendale, AZ - Jobing.com Arena 05/22 - Dallas, TX - American Airlines Center 05/24 - San Antonio, TX - AT&T Center 05/25 - Houston, TX - Toyota Center Rammstein's new video, "Mein Land", can be seen here. The clip was filmed with renowned Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund, who has previously worked with Metallica, Satyricon, Ozzy Osbourne, Madonna and The Prodigy, among others. Rammstein released the "Mein Land" single on November 14 (three days earlier in Germany, Austria and Switzerland). It is available as a four-track release via iTunes with a previously unreleased song, "Vergiss Uns Nicht", as well as remixes from BossHoss and Mogwai accompanied by the "Mein Land" video and a digital booklet. The Amazon version is "Mein Land" and the two remixes. Rammstein's long-awaited retrospective release, "Made In Germany 1995 - 2011", will be available on December 13 through Universal Germany's marketing and distribution deal in the U.S. with Vagrant Records. "Made In Germany 1995 - 2011" will be available in three different editions:
  • Standard Edition: CD Digipak - Best Of Album
  • Special Edition: 2-CD Digipak - Best Of Album and Best Of Remixes
  • Super Deluxe Edition: 2-CD (Best Of Album and Best Of Remixes) as well as 3 DVDs (including the full Rammstein video catalog, all previously available "making-of" and 8 unreleased "making-of" videos) packaged in a steel box complete with a 240-page booklet. No, the added value of a live performance is the show. If I want to spend the night just listening to the songs on the cd I'll stay at home and play the cd.

This. Honestly, even if you've only heard few songs, their shows are just spectacular to watch. Easily beat any other live band I've seen.

Tickets for the 2012 European tour sold out in a matter of hours. They're insanely popular over here, even though one rarely meets anyone who admits it.
