Wrapping up the band's latest touring cycle, Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe opened up about the impact of last year's events, announcing a break from music "for a good long while."

"And so another album cycle comes to an end," Randy kicked off via Instagram. "This has been a very eventful, at times very stressful, album cycle, and it's been about three years since we started on this one in our practice space - I need a break."

The vocalist focused on taking time off, adding, "Tomorrow is a 19-hour flight back to the USA, and then another one home to RVA, and except for two festival shows in 2014, I will not be thinking about Lamb of God, touring, playing heavy metal, writing new Lamb of God material - none of that stuff - at all - for a good long while.

"Time to do other things for a bit, and let my brain regroup, and be a somewhat normal human being," Blythe continued. "This has been a pretty wild ride though, and to end it in Africa of all places still amazes the crap outta me. So thanks Johannesburg for an awesome end to the 'Resolution' tour cycle, and to all you other bands, hear this: the game has been stepped up, and the ante has risen.

"You are not a Real G until you come to South Africa and your fans throw one of these to you on stage - a warthog skull. Takes the cake for the strangest thing throw at me on stage ever, and I've had some weird shit thrown at me - I named him Jeff. Jeff, the South African warthog. Top that, y'all. Don't front like your ballin' if you ain't rockin' that wart hog shizzy. I figured I'd finish up the cycle with a nice self-portrait. Me and Jeff are outty. Peace, and one love," the singer concluded, along with an attached image."

Understandable really, it's been a pretty mad couple of years for him Not a massive LoG fan but Randy always seems like such a cool guy

Yeah, a murderer is definately a cool guy.

You are a very misinformed individual...That or just a stupid troll.
    filipe26
Not at all, he pushed the guy off stage. That's not his job at all. He could've ran, could've hide if he felt he was in danger, but to contain the guy who jumped on stage was the security guard's job, not his.

I can't downvote this enough, contemplating making another account just to add another -1

Can't blame him really after all he's been through. I think I'd want some time to properly relax after being in prison for a crime I wasn't guilty of.

I hate to say that, I'm pissed off about this post at first.... but then I think about it. Randy has been through a lot more than most of us can even possibly imagine of and yet he still sang through a tour for us after he'd been locked up, and sent through that piece of sh*t trial. Then he says he wants to take a break from music??? HAHA!!!! Randy believe me and the rest of your fans.... please do brother. We'll miss you and the rest of LOG but we'll manage through haha. love you LOG!!!

He definitely deserves a break. I think doing this last tour was good for him though, he was loving it in Melbourne last year. (Amazing show, Moshpit was absolutely massive during Redneck)

I actually think this is a good thing. With all that has been going on for the past few years it certainly wouldn't hurt for him to take a slight distance from all of it and set his mind straight.

Fuck i really hoped for a new release by the end of 2014 but man this is so fair at the same time. He ****ing deserves it!

After all the BS he just had to go through that is completely understandable.

I'm with a lot of the other people here. I was hoping for a new LoG album this year too, but we can wait. Randy, stay strong brother. Take your time with your break because we all know that it is well-earned. We'll all still be here waiting for you. I bet that when you do come back you'll be more ferocious than ever!

I'm a huge LoG fan, but I felt Resolution was hurried and not very creative. Randy's time off will let everyone recharge and hopefully breathe new life into the band.

I am VERY disappointed for no lamb of god but i understand he needs time off. I was hoping for a release of their most badass material yet, but i guess not, eh? ****. Oh well, he handled a situation that none of us will ever be in, like a mother****in boss.

Given everything that Randy has gone through in the last album cycle, I'd say some time away from music to just live life as a normal human being is well deserved. While, don't get me wrong, I'd be just as stoked for new Lamb of God material as anybody, my desire for new music does not come before his need to have a life. On a side note to anybody interested: Randy's instagram account is definitely worth checking out. He posts some great pictures (and funny videos, particularly the ones involving his elf, Wendell), and usually a great story with each one. He's the reason I got an instagram account, and it's definitely worth checking out.

same here, except I got it because of some guy that called himself Papa Het. Randy is quite an eloquent writer.

i'd rather wait for an amazing album and give him time to find inspiration and enjoy his damn life.

Maybe I'll run into him in town. Not a huge listener but he's been through some shit and I know he still has some deep roots in town that ground him and the other members of the band.

This will be good recoop for the guy, hope he dose well, all the more reason when LoG comes back with new stuff,,they will be better than ever.

Good for Randy, he deserves it, hope the others can do alright getting by without the LoG money.

Was hoping to hear another album from them this year, ah well looks like that won't be til late '15 early '16. After some time off I'm sure whatever they put out will be nothing short of outstanding.

They were in my town last Wednesday, I was going to go but I need to go too University the next day, I just figured 'they'll be back next year'. Goddammit.

Never skip out on a concert if you have the opportunity to go. You never know what will happen. I decided not to go to the last Sum 41 show near me figuring they would come around again but instead their drummer quit. On the topic at hand, I'm actually surprised he didn't do this beforehand. He went through a ****ing murder trial. I wish him the best. He deserves this.
    vikingman369
i'm all for this. being a murdering douche-bag can be really taxing, so he needs his rest
    Sleight666
Well you must speak from experience being the latter half of that description. Also, **** you, maybe you should inform yourself a little before making deliberately ignorant and inflammatory comments.
    filipe26
There's nothing for no one to inform themselves about, he pushed the guy off of stage. You don't treat your fans like that. Or no one for what matters.
    Zep08
You do realize there's video proof of this not being the case correct?
    CalebTM
So I'm assuming you don't even know of the Dimebag Darrell incident? Any fan who gets on stage without being invited is instantly considered a threat. It's metal, not punk rock. Shit's serious. You probably think Tim Lambesis and Ian Watkins are innocent too, huh?
    peachesenregali
More time for him to focus on pretending to be an intellectual.
    Kornholic
Ironically, that's exactly what you are doing now.
