The life and musical legacy of late guitar great Randy Rhoads will be celebrated at an upcoming event at D'Argenzio Winery in Burbank, California. The celebration is being thrown by Randy's sister, Kathy Rhoads D'Argenzio, in honor of what would have been the musician's 54th birthday. Randy Rhoads Birthday Weekend will take place 1 to 8 p.m. December 4 and 1 to 6 p.m. December 5 at the D'Argenzio Tasting Room, 1204 W. Burbank Blvd., Burbank. In a press release, Kathy says, This special gathering will be a great opportunity for all friends and fans to celebrate my brother's life and to spend time with our family. Free food and beverages will be served to all guests. The samples will include D'Argenzio's recently released Randy Rhoads Cabernet Sauvignon. In addition, Kathy will be using Randy-related items to decorate for the birthday celebration. Randy Rhoads' life and musical career were tragically cut short following a fatal airplane crash in 1982. Rhoads, who had come to fame as a guitarist for Quiet Riot and then Ozzy Osbourne, was only 25. For more information on the Randy Rhoads Birthday Weekend, click here. Thanks for the report to Bryan Wawzenek, Gibson.com.

He's the reason I started playing metal guitar, and all around started taking guitar seriously. He had his own style and sound, and didn't copy anyone else, and that's one of my favorite things about him. Plus The Concord guitar design is very, very sexy. He's definitly missed.

Randy Rhoads had and still has the best musical style imo. I know he may not have invented the Classical Metal Genre, but he definitely perfected it to a T. Randy was and is one of the greatest.

Sigh, what a stupid way to die too? Why couldn't he just say no? RIP to another legend

The guy was only 25 and he's a legend, if he lived on to this date he would be a Guru Master Legend. R.I.P. Randy.

Happy BD Randy. Tribute is one of my favorite albums ever. He was flawless live and sounded a milion times better live than in studio!

I know. 54 years old. He was a deity on Earth when he was in his early 20's, imagine what 30 years of experience would do. Granted, he wanted to leave Ozzy and be a teacher again, you can imagine that he would release solo material at some point. Or, all the great guitarists who came out to say he taught them

Rest In Peace, brother! You are the reason I still play after almost 12 years, I know you are playing in that band up there somewhere, with Dimebag, Cliff, Dio, Paul (two bassists, why not), and The Rev. Rock on guys, rock on!
