RHCP Songs Reportedly Used By CIA as Torture Device in Guantanamo Bay
0
According to a new Al Jazeera report, CIA has used Red Hot Chili Peppers music as one of the torture methods on Guantanamo Bay prisoners.

Specifically, RHCP tunes were classified among "enhanced interrogation" methods meant to mentally break prisoners and get them to talk.

The report even singles out a prisoner named Zayn al-Abidin Muhammad Husayn Abu Zubaydah who was subjected to the music torture while being shackled and stuffed into a pet crate. The method was meant to "batter the detainee's senses."

Although this mean of torture does seem a bit peculiar, RHCP are certainly not the first rock act whose music was used for similar purposes. As reported, Metallica, Bruce Springsteen and Demon Hunter all had their tracks featured in torture chambers.

I can imagine people going insane if they heard "Give It Away" on a continuous loop.

Or just an infinite loop of the chorus. Give it away, give it away, give it away now. Give it away, give it away, give it away now. Give it away, give it away, give it away now. Imagine that going forever.

Even worse, never getting to the 'now'. "Give it away, give it away, give it away, give it away, give it away, give it away..."

My first thoughts. If there was one song by the RHCP I would use to torture someone, it would be Give it Away.

"Do you have any information on this guy?" *shows pictures of a terrorist* "Yes..." "Give it away, give it away, give it away now!"

I'm picturing the Verses of 'By The Way' on repeat, No chorus, with almost White Noise levels of Gain.

Why aren't they using Justin Beiber's songs as torture? I'd be jamming out to RHCP, listening to Baby, baby, baby oh baby for two minutes would get me to confess to things I didn't do.

I wonder if they obtained the appropriate licences to be able to use the music for this.

I wouln't be sure if there was an index in the law that allows the music to be used as torture. Don't really know what the licence would say.

Jesus, imagine finding out your music was being used for this. I'd be absolutely furious. Those CIA agents are ****ed in the head.

From what I understand (and conveniently learnt about last week in a lecture), the music is merely to throw off a persons senses. For example while being water boarded you cannot see and having the music throws you off entirely from your surroundings. Any music foreign to the person would be enough.

I'd imagine Nina's Song off the self titled album would drive anyone insane on a loop. Nothing but slap bass constantly

LOL I just wonder how it comes the CIA actually is searching for annoying/torturing songs when they just could make noisey tracks by themselves? Writing annoying music aint hard. By the way, i dont think even one RHCP song can be used for torture, they are too awesome!
