Robert Plant 'Disappointed and Baffled' by Jimmy Page's Continuous Led Zeppelin Reunion Calls

"I don't know what he's trying to do," the singer says.

Ultimate Guitar

As Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page expressed great desire for a band reunion and Robert Plant shot down rumors every time, the singer admitted being confused with guitar legend's behavior.

"I feel for the guy. He knows he's got the headlines if he wants them. But I don't know what he's trying to do. So I feel slightly disappointed and baffled," Plant told Uncut.

The singer further explained how he was interested in joining forces with Jimmy, but only in an unplugged capacity. "A couple of years ago I said, 'If you've got anything acoustic, let me know. I'll give it a whirl.' It was hands across the water.

"He just walked away. But we couldn't do anything proper. The weight of expectation is too great," Plant explained (via NME).

In related news, Page has announced the continuation of Zeppelin reissue series, confirming deluxe editions of "Led Zeppelin IV" and "Houses of the Holy." More info here.

Reunion won't happen, and it shouldn't.
    Why not? 2007 was AMAZING
The 2007 concert was amazing as a one-off, and it should be left like that. I'm looking forward to Plant's upcoming album, and hope to hear new stuff from Page soon.
I think that the 2007 concert was a awesome sendoff. Jimmy should tour as a solo artist and so should Robert, they can play zeppelin songs of course but I personally think they shouldn't go overkill with reunions and such.
I love both guys, but I agree with plant on this one. Reunion shouldn't happen. I'd like to hear new stuff from both artists, but they should keep "Led Zeppelin" out of this. As [b]MrWeatherHead pointed out, playing Led Zep stuff in their respective live solo performances can't be a bad thing!
It should be like Pink Floyd after Pulse, they tour playing their own songs and the band's song, the way they want it, and everybody's happy There's no real need for a reunion, but there's a real importance that the show goes on for Led Zeppelin
I keep posting this till some one listen to me... Page, JPJ and Jason should look up for another singer and start a new project just as Velvet Revolver.. Guns n roses:Velvet Revolver Led Zeppelin:New project New songs and they could play Zep tunes!!
Unlike everyone else here, I am actually for a reunion. Why not? There's is absolutely nothing that Robert Plant nor Jimmy Page can do as solo artists that will ever top the legacy they left behind with Led Zeppelin. If they both go out and do their own solo projects, every fan at every show is going to want to hear Led Zeppelin songs. No matter what they do, Led Zeppelin will ALWAYS cloud over them. Clearly Plant has no interest though. I think a tour with Adam Lambert would be a good way to do it. They could call it Led Zeppelin + Adam Lambert (and obviously Jason Bonham will play drums). Adam Lambert has done a great job with Queen, and would do great with Zeppelin as well. Heck, I think Lambert would sound even better than Robert Plant. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
They've aged 7 years since the 02. Not only do they have themselves to live up to, but the show they pulled out that night. It's a massive ask and understandable that Plant worries about the detrimental effect on their legacy. They played a show in their 60's most young bands will never get close to. Why push your luck? And as for Adam Lambert? No.
Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, Jason Bonham, and Billy Squire in place of Plant? I'd pay to see that.
From what I'm aware of, Jimmy Page and Jon Paul Jones aren't doing anything. What's stopping them joining forces and starting an all new band? Just find a drummer (probably not Jason Bonham, he's busy with Glenn Hughes) and a good singer and you'd still get away with doing the odd Zep cover now and then. Come on, Page, we'll all be waiting for you.
    Sheep Shagger
They tried doing that with Myles Kennedy (and Jason) in 2008, but it didn't work out for whatever reason.
ya know...i'm guilty in thinking that plant was the one who was the ego-maniac...but reading that statement, of him saying to page to get back to him with some new acoustic stuff, to me, shows that he's into "reuniting" with his former bandmate again. whereas jimmy, not getting back to him, especially after years, probly just wants to rehash their former glory days for the almighty $. being the true ego maniac, jimmy, doesn't care about such a good opportunity given to him. he doesn't want to give plant the time of day, but expects plant to bend over, eventhough, he more or less offered him a place in his new band?...**** page anyways, he's mediocre at best.
Plant just doesn't want to sing Stairway EVERY. DAMN. NIGHT. Plus, look at the Sabbath reunion... everyone was hyped, then there were some problems and everyone got all pissy, then the album finally came out and 6 months later everyone was back to listening to Vol.4 or whatever... have you met anyone who has claimed 13 to be their favorite Sabbath album? Even in their Top 5 favorite Sabbath albums? Don't get me wrong, it's a *good* record, but somehow just doesn't get the juices flowing the same way old Sabbath does. I agree with Plant here... just let the Zeppelin remain a beautiful part of the past... it has no relevance to modern times, really.
Whether or not people think the reunion should happen. I saw Sammy Hagar the other night and he absolutely rocked the Zep songs he played I think he would be a awesome front man for the occasion if it were to happen.
I don't think Sammy would take up that offer. That would just make him seem like a "fill in" musician, after what he did with Van Halen.
I just don't understand. Does Robert Plant just care that much about preserving a legacy? You shouldn't get into the music industry just for the fame, awards, and legacies. You should it because you love it. And if Robert is that stubborn about not having a reunion, then either he cares more about the legacy, or he just never loved Led Zeppelin that much. I guarantee when Plant is on his death bed and his life is about to end, he'll regret not spending more of his life doing what he loves...Led Zeppelin.
