1st, Jeff Beck and maybe Run DMC deserve it Too early for Metallica though when bands like Kiss, Boston, and ELO aren't in

Let me get this straight. Metallica does not deserve to be in the hall of fame? Are you kidding me? I understand that aforementioned bands/artists released records before Metallica did, but to say Metallica doesn't deserve to be in the hall of fame..... words can't even express how appalling and ludicrous that is. Furthermore, does anyone else find it ridiculous and wrong that hip-hop acts like Run DMC are going into the ROCK AND ROLL hall of fame???

You think that Tool, Anthrax, Rainbow, and Dream theater are more important and influential than Metallica? Metallica are more influential than all of those bands combined. No lie. Those are all great bands, but to say that they top Metallica on the influence list is foolish. And Stevie Ray Vaughan just became eligible this year. I'm sure he'll get in soon.

I'm not just saying this because I am a HUGE Social D fan but seriously, 30 years and still kicking ass. Plus, they have influenced MANY bands out there.....just my opinion...

people just complaining about Kiss. they're not inducted because they didn't want to pay the induction fee. or something along those lines. finally Jeff Beck is in there, the last lead guitarist of the yardbirds finally made it.

I can't wait until three years from now when GN'R gets inducted and there's a bunch of scandalous **** going down... Axl will probably insist that the new members go up too, so it'll be an interesting scene.

for all those people wondering why metallica is in before all these other people, i dont think the nominees are chosen in order of which they came. i mean, look at Hendrix! he was inducted in 92, i mean, he totally changed rock n roll! so stop complaining, everyones time will come.

Metallica has worked hard to get to where they are, and I think they do deserve but it's just too early. I think they can still do a lot more musically once they get truely back into their roots. Also, I believe that Rush and KISS both deserve it more than anything, but to an extent, I also believe that Rush and KISS are too cool for it. Seriously.
      Bored to Tears
I'm not saying Metallica are the best band in the world, because I don't think so personally. But the numbers don't lie, they have had 5 consecutive records at Billboards number 1 spot. No other band in the world has done that.

The Stooges being stiffed makes the whole thing an exercise in futility. Jeff Beck is so mediocre...they will induct anyone who can make it on to a "Best Guitarists Ever" list.

im sorry to burst everyones bubble but the rock and roll hall of fame isnt just rock and roll, its musical pioneers, hence why run dmc are in there, you might not like them but just appreciate what they do.

i think metallica is in there because they have had a HUGE influence on the music world (regardless of whether or not they are money hungry) whereas KISS has always been and will always be a blatantly commercial and entirely forgettable band. boston is closer to artistically important and should be there soon.
      777Corey
Stooges without doubt should have been in there the first year eligible if this institution was truly admiring and respecting rock n roll, and not popular music. **** them. I would love to spray paint the Stooges' name on the front door.

You got it wrong, without Dave Mustaine metallica wouldn't sound good, if there wasn't a metallica then megadeth would have just formed sooner which would have been better anyways

metallica deserves to be in the hall of fame, so what if metallica switched from thrash metal to catchier hard rock stuff for a little bit, you guys would get bored with playing the same stuff over and over again, too, and if it werent for them there wouldnt BE thrash metal. and i think they made a pretty good come back with death magnetic, sweet album, but yeah for all the critics its not the ride the lightning metallica. Jeff beck deserves it, and i agree Rush should be in there, and so should boston. and thats a disgrace to the hall of fame that SRV isnt in there..
      MantlePicture
Also, once Motley becomes eligible they'd better get in. The Crue is awesome.
Crue is eligible. Their first album was self-released in 81, and released by Electra in mid-82. That's 27 years(26 if you wanna be anal). Metallica didn't release their debut until two years later.

theres always a reason y a band is a big name. they had to do something rite for tht to happen. and how did they rip off sabbath and motorhead. metallica is completely original in the music they have created

Chicago innovated a ton of stuff that most people still don't give them credit for. Terry Kath overdrove the pre-amp back in 1969. At that time, he pretty much picked up where Jimi Hendrix left off, with techniques that Eddie Van Halen would make famous several years later. Let's not forget Lamm's amazing songwriting ability, or the vocal chemistry between Kath and Cetera. Sheesh-kabobs, no respect for the innovators.

Tell that to Slash, Dimebag(who had a Kiss tattoo!), Sebastian Bach, and the thousands of kids that picked up a guitar after seeing Ace Frehley play. You can argue that they aren't that skilled, you can argue that they are greedy *****s, and you can even argue that they suck. But they were WAY more influencial than Metallica. Anyone who listens to Metallica objectively will realize that Kirk is just a Dave Mustaine wanna-be. But this is all beside the point. F*ck Metallica, f*ck Kiss. Where are Iggy, Rush, Priest, Maiden, Rainbow, etc. They all deserve to get in before either of the bands. Hell, I'd even induct Hanoi Rocks before Metallica.

Metallica for the last 30 years have been the biggest metal band. selling almost 100 million records. Just because some people dont like them and think they are sellouts doesnt mean they are more than worthy of the hall of fame. oh and Rush should definately be in there, same with jeff beck. But yea Metallica FTW

For all the people who say that Metallica doesn't deserve it, you can go screw yourselves. They've sold over 60 million albums and sell out tours faster than anyone else. When Kiss stops trying to make money off of every little thing, maybe they will get in.

Don't get me wrong, Metallica should definitely be inducted. Just not right now, seeing as there are at least a dozen bands that deserve it more. And let's get real for a second... Metallica had two, possibly three albums that you could consider great. The others ranged from boring and mediocre to just flat-out garbage.
