Seether have teamed up with some of their musical friends for what promises to be the rock event of the summer.

The first annual The Rise Above Fest will take place in Gilford, N.H. on September 3 at the Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion. The name of the festival is taken from the song, "Rise Above This", that frontman Shaun Morgan wrote as a message to his brother. His brother took his own life five years ago before he ever got a chance to hear and it was that experience that brought about the creation of The Rise Above Fest.

The festival will raise money for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) New Hampshire, a multi-faceted organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of persons of all ages affected by mental illness or serious emotional disorders through education, support and advocacy.

Playing alongside Seether, who will be headlining the inaugural event, are fellow rockers Buckcherry, Puddle Of Mudd, Black Stone Cherry and Otherwise. Tickets for the event go on-sale June 8 and will range from $29.75 - $64.50 with exclusive VIP packages offered. A portion of the proceeds from The Rise Above Fest will be used to support this incredible foundation and this important cause.

"Over the past few months, the topic of suicide has received more attention than ever in the media. For me personally, it is something I can never forget. I am starting this festival as a tribute to anyone who has lost someone. If this festival does something to help one person reconsider the tragic choice of suicide, then it will be the greatest success of my career," states Morgan.

Aside from creating The Rise Above Fest, Seether have just set a new career milestone for themselves. The South African trio's latest single "No Resolution" from their Wind-Up Records release, Holding Onto Stings Better Left To Fray, hit #1 at Active Rock marking the first time the band has had 3 consecutive chart topping tracks from the same album.

That's a great cause, but that lineup (top to bottom) is complete dog sh*t. One butt rock band after another.

I'm not really a fan of any of those bands, but that is a great cause. I hope this goes over really well, because mental illness is a serious problem.

Who cares about the line up? It's all about the cause; these guys are playing for a reason. They may not be the best of bands, but they're playing.

A good lineup. A huge fan of Black Stone Cherry, and I'm slowly starting to dig Otherwise. Too bad its not coming closer to Indiana

Not that I'm complaining, but it seems like every band wants to start their own festival nowadays. Just saying.

If you plan to go to Rise Above Fest on Sept 3 in Gilford NH (Seether, Buck Cherry, Puddle Of Mudd, and others) please purchase your tickets using THIS LINK... http://www.meadowbrook.net/?page=event_i... code=090312&tc=RA12-SC There is NO EXTRA CHARGE to use this link, but it helps us out tremendously! We are A Simple Complex, an NH-based hard rock band competing to perform at this show. The above link was given to us by Meadowbrook because it includes the "RA12-SC" code at the end of it, and that helps us try and secure a position on the roster that day. Tickets are on sale as of Friday, June 8 at 11am. Thank you!!
