For a feature with Paste Magazine, guitarist Slash unveiled his list of his 10 favourite guitar riffs of all time. The ex-Guns N' Roses member took some time to compile a feature for the publication's "List Of The Day" and managed to make a handful of choices based across different genres. Slash's list for his 10 favourite guitar riffs of all time is as follows: 01. Led Zeppelin - "Black Dog" 02. The Yardbirds - "Over Under Sideways Down" 03. Jimi Hendrix - "Purple Haze" 04. Queen - "More Of That Jazz" 05. The Eagles - "Life In The Fast Lane" 06. Metallica - "Disposable Heroes" 07. Jeff Beck - "Superstition" 08. Van Halen - "Show Your Love (I'm The One)" 09. Aerosmith - "Back In The Saddle" 10. The Beatles - "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" In describing his favourite riff, Slash noted that it didn't seem like an original and unique choice but liked the Led Zeppelin track for specific reasons. "This one seems obvious, I guess," he said. "This song is just f*ckin' monstrous. Real, real heavy." The guitarist also explained why his list included of a few underrated choices and stated that he has a personal attachment to some tracks, like Aerosmith's "Back In The Saddle". "I think this was one of the first guitar riffs I ever learned," said Slash about the Aerosmith song. "I was screwing around when I heard this riff, I think I was over at some girl's house. And then this came on the radio, and I realized that I had more important things to deal with." Find out more about what Slash has to say about his other choices at Paste Magazine's official website.

"Into the Void" by Black Sabbath? I can't recall any heavier (not louder, folks) classic riffs than that.

"More Of That Jazz" is one of my favorite Queen tracks. Roger Taylor is such an underrated musician...

Everyone who is saying "it should have x,y z" on the list: it's Slash's list! If this is the stuff that inspires him to play what he does, awesome. It's not about what's underground or what's popular, it's about what he likes.

hes a diva, overrated. I'm sice of hearing news about this loser. How about bringing back the old days when you were actually making good music and not waste our time with this bullshit.

For his fans I'm sure they're quite inquisitive as to what this man's favourite things are. And so what if some of the songs are more mainstream then others? I like peanut butter in my sandwiches, is someone going to tell me that I should like a different, less mainstream spread?
you peanut butter people are conformist pawns of the system, disgusting... XD

Lol, we're doing phantom of the opera in school, and one day our director told us "if i was a disfigured musical genius, i'd grow my hair like Slash, and wear dark glasses, and nobody would know"..... i swear she really DID say that!!!! I like his choice by the way...

you guys are seriously bashing this list because its "mainstream"? seriously? grow the **** up, this is a fantasti list

being that he's older than i assume most of us here, by the way everybody's acting, these songs were more new when he was younger, by now, over the years, of course they're "cliche" but when they inspired him 30 years ago, some of these sounds would've been a bit more fresh. he's not aiming to please you people, he's being honest

grow up people we are all influenced by the music we grow up with, this is his list , it doesnt have to match yours. So quit being stupid and get influenced by your heroes and shut the funk up!
    METAL MIKEY
I think the disposable heroes riff hes talking about is the opening riff. It's absolutely ****in crushing, its heavy, it punches you right in the face. Unfortunately the song does lose a bit of its power as it goes on, but that opening riff is one of metallica's best (and simplest; it was the first heavy metal riff i ever learned)
    Zeerion
hendrix has so many better songs than purple haze. and the same goes for led zeppelin with black dog.

I don't care so much about his music tastes, that's beside the point i'm about to make. The question I have is...WHY THE FUCK IS THIS FRONT-PAGE NEWS.
    Jonbagga
look at the number of comments, people care about this guy, so it makes the news, deal with it.

Did not see "Disposable Heroes" coming.. 10 points to Slash for that.. -90 for the rest of the songs however. Boring.

ok that's fine...personal taste, no problem. but i know you don't like them because you don't enoy their music..i know it's not a case of "i hate it because everybody else likes it and it's too popular..." which is just as bad as "i like it because everybody else likes it"..music is music, it's there to be liked or hated.
