According to a recent interview with Voterix.com in Buenos Aires, legendary ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash is claiming that, contrary to the popular rumors, Velvet Revolver is not recording with Slipknot/Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor.

In the interview, Slash addressed the Taylor rumors, stating: "Because of the social networking, and the way that information gets out so quickly now... We did work with Corey Taylor, and as soon as that rumor [got around], next thing you know, everybody is saying Corey's the new singer. And all we were doing was just rehearsing with him and trying him out - auditioning him, so to speak. So, in order to do that, our process is to... we take a lot of music that we wrote and we give it to him and he writes his lyrics and he comes in and we just perform it and record it and see [what it sounds like]. It's just an audition process; it's the way that we do it. So he did come in and do all that. But I just wasn't... It just didn't seem to fit right to me. And he's great - and I love Corey - but it didn't seem like the answer to the Velvet Revolver problem."

According to Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan, recordings were made of the Taylor rehearsal sessions. McKagan seems to support Taylor's involvement in Velvet Revolver, recently telling Music Radar: "We recorded a bunch of songs with Corey. I think he's f--king great. Whether he's in Velvet Revolver or not... I think he's the best voice of a new generation. The best rock 'n' voice out there. He's got a lot of positive energy. I'd be proud to do anything with him."

McKagan briefly addressed the timetable for Velvet Revolver reforming and finding a new singer, saying: "But the truth is... I can't see Velvet Revolver happening till fall, maybe. Slash is touring, I'm just starting to tour... We'll just see. I just don't have an answer. I don't."

Slash plans to make a new solo record in 2011, and Duff McKagan plans to tour with his band, "Loaded".

Corey Taylor is touring with Stone Sour and Slipknot this summer, and has recently been spotted sporting an "I am not the new singer in Velvet Revolver" T-shirt.

i'm glad. they're musical styles didn't seem similar enough for me. it seemed like the wrong decision. good for them to not compromise on what they're looking for. it'll take time but im sure they'll find their guy and be back better than ever. Lol at Corey's tshirt though.

I am going to audition for the singing part for Velvet Revolver in the youtube auditions and hope to god that I get in. Corey is a great singer and a vocal idol of mine, but to be honest, he would have just been filling in until I got there (again, no offense to Corey).

Not really that surprised, they need a more classic rock styled singer, Corey is superb but not who I would expect in that sort of band

I want to see a picture of Corey in that shirt. I believe we all knew that Corey wasn't going to fit with VR.

Corey Taylor has not got the right voice for Velvet Revolver, i could have told them this to begin with and saved them months, he's got a decent 'metal' voice but not a 'rock' voice
    Got Metal?

How long have these guys been going "Hey we have a new singer, oh wait we don't this guy actually doesn't work with our sound" again? Since like 2008?

Because he is?? OT: Get M. Shadows. lol. I had heard people saying this before the whole Corey Taylor rumor, and I wasn't exactly onboard with it. But then, I listened to Contraband again, and I realized he'd be a damn good fit after listening to Big Machine and Sucker Train Blues. Plus...honestly, I think A7X should just quit. Nightmare was good, but I don't think they can go out and do another record. Maybe I'm wrong?

Maybe someone should inform Slash that Corey himself stated that he wasn't going to sing for VR shortly after the rumors got started, saying they gave him a shot and it just didn't work out.

all this bs makes me wonder if axl REALLY was the problem, or was it just slash being a diva...

Hmm. Something tells me they should just forget about Velvet Revolver all together. I think everybody is sick of hearing about it. Why does it take 4 years to find a singer? Just call it a day.

Lol He is actually a very good singer. Comparing him to fob or afi is stupid.

Would have liked to see it happen but whatev. I would rather slipknot make a new album than Corey do this anyway.

I still think they should go with the dude from Rev Theory, but then again I also think that Velvet Revolver is pretty much done for at this point.
