Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash has responded to Duff McKagan rejoining the band, Classic Rock reports.

Duff, who played with the band from 1985-1997, is filling in for Tommy Stinson for Guns N' Roses' South American Tour. Stinson is currently on tour with the Replacements.

As Slash notes, when it comes to these decisions, Duff is his own man:

"What Duff does is what Duff does. It doesn't really concern me.

"Duff's relationship with Axl is different to mine. That call to me is just not going to happen."

However, Slash wasn't critical of his Velvet Revolver bandmate's decision to rejoin the band, noting that he has a "more amicable" relationship with singer Axl Rose: "I don't judge Duff. He's cool. He just has a way more amicable, neutral relationship with Axl than I do."

Slash, who recently finished recording his third solo album, is set to tour with Aerosmith this summer.

Even if the original Guns would reform i doubt it would be anywhere near the same. Big part of guns was the attitude they had back then and the 80's combined with their life styles. For me guns is real rock n roll and it cant be forced.

^ This. Finally someone who understands. Things are and will never be the same, we're living in a different age. Slash is doing the most amazing solo work, things are fine the way they are.

Yeah. It's hard to admit but I'm about 90% certain I would be hugely disappointed by a reunion album.

We wouldn't get an album, tour wouldn't even be likely. They'd probably just have a one-off reunion show like Zeppelin did in 07.

If that was the case I wouldn't even see the point. If they were great it would be sad because they wasted so much potential. If they sucked it would just be painful to watch. Nobody wins really.

I just wanna hear a new gnr album with ashba, I like his guitar work especially in sixx am

I really like him as a guitar player, but I really hope he doesn't do much songwriting in GNR. His songs are terrible, but luckily, I think Axl is even pickier than I am.

Slash's solo work blows. This line of thinking is completely wrong. Get Izzy involved and you never know what could happen.

biff022, Yeah, Slash's solo work is better than anything Velvet Revolver did, and that was three fifths of Guns, so yeah, I don't think so.

no doubt do u really think your gonna get the rock attitude from a bunch of 50 something year old men trying to recreate their youth

Slash isn't a dick. Why is everyone so surprised? "Journalism" these days is basically trolling for the sensational.

Duff has always been my favorite member of GnR anyways (next to Izzy). A reunion of the Appetite For Destruction lineup (or even the Use Your Illusion lineup) would be awesome but... too many egos...

One of my lifelong dreams is to see the original Guns and Roses reunite

Really? I always imagined it would just be a huge disappointment. I'd go see it, but there's no way it could live up to what GNR once was. I think a lot of people seem to overlook facts such as growing up and growing older when it comes down to things like live performances.

thats true, but to those of us for example who weren't even born when the original Guns lineup was together, it would still be a dream come true just to see those five guys onstage together playing the classic songs that they wrote together

Yeah although it's hard to say. I mean, as a musician i think i perform better when i'm playing with certain people. Watching the new Duff/Axl clips the other day, i believe that Axl performs better with Duff around. KISS without a doubt performed better than ever when they re-united in the late 90's.

ya i really hope they get back together so everyone can bitch about how they're not the same as back in the late '80s even though none of them saw the original line up live

As someone who was born during the hight of their popularity, I would kill to see a reunion concert. If Black Sabbath can do it, why not Guns?

As soon as I saw the guns post that Duff was back the first though I had was all they need is Slash, I guess thats not happening.

But without Steve probably no slash and without slash probably no Guns N Roses so swings and roundabouts really. Everyone plays their part you can't judge someone for a drug addiction when they were in a successful rock band in the 80's when drug were pretty much the norm, I'd like to see our resolve to abstain in their circumstances

Matt Sorum can also help with this. Matt and Axl cleared things up in the early 00's; Slash Duff and Matt as everybody knows have the chemistry and good relationship (and Matt drums better than Steve!) This might sound selfish, but I've always had bitter feelings for Steve for his drug abuse that caused his firing and opened the doors for future breakups.
