Staind Take A Break

It's going to be awhile before there's a new Staind album in record stores according to front-man Aaron Lewis. In an interview with Billboard he said: "Everybody needs some time off. I like to try to make sure the surface is clean. You've got to let all the build-up from being on tour and playing the same songs over and over again go away and have a clean slate to start over with so we don't repeat ourselves. "We've kept a pretty rigorous schedule from the word go in our career. We've been around for 10 years and made five records; that's a pretty serious work schedule. I don't think there's anything wrong with slowing that down just a little bit and giving people a little bit of an opportunity to miss what we have to offer." When asked about the idea of a solo album he said: "It's there in concept and thought, but there's a lot of things that have to fall into place for me to bring it to the table." Aaron hopes that recording on his own will give Staind the chance to recapture the head-banging reputation that's been overshadowed by the bands more mellow hits. Lewis will kick off a solo tour on December 27th that currently stretches into 2007. Thanks for the report to TuneLab.

Yeah... I hope for their sake, that they'll learn to write better lyrics... In the old days of that band it was about being sad and "fked up" and hurting themselves... now it's just about being sad and using the drugs that CAUSED them to get "fked up" in the first place... Lewis needs to clean up. Write something that's not depressing already.

Sweet Jesus I hope you're joking.

this is a good thing to hear. People still headbang, I was just at a Children of Bodom concert and most people were, including me. Of course I doubt many people who listen to staind also like COB.

I LOVE STAIND but i really do hope your joking, staind is incredible at everything they do but to compare them with the fathers of rock is just ignorance.

5 records in 10 years? intense work schedule? not really...the doors made 7 in 4 years.not to mention they toured the whole time haha, not that the doors weren't great but mescaline will help you do that

You mean we get a break from the whining and complaining? Awesome. Don't get me wrong, Staind is a great band, but whatever happened to "Mudshovel" and "Raw"? That's the Staind I want back. Rockin' hard like the old days.

7 records in ten years is only an intense in-studio work schedule. staind had to write an album, and then go straight to tour, for 10 years, not 7

But you guys are forgetting that alot more effects are used nowadays and there is alot more editing and producing than 20 or 30 years ago.

Oh yeah, How can you say that The Beatles and the Stones aren't Fathers of Rock, name one band that have not been influenced by them!

well said by aaron. dysfunction is nothing like today's staind (though I really can't complain about the newer stuff). if they could return to that, it would be awesome. alot of people jumped on after break the cycle, just missing what made staind really be staind. Spleen has got to be one of the best songs that Staind ever wrote. unfortunately, it gets overshadowed by the successes of BTC, which was still a good album none-the-less. and what aaron-maiden pointed out about the work schedule is dead on. there is alot more things to be considered in the making of an album today in comparison to when zeppelin could just record swan song in one take and be done with it. and i can name one band that wasn't influenced by the stones and the beatles. my band. enough said.
    no mercy
Aaron's solo stuff should be pretty good. All acoustic, maybe? And Staind do need a break, so they can get some fresh ideas. I like the band, but I was disappointed with their last CD. Not that hearing 'Paper Jesus' live didn't blow me away, b/c it did. That song sounded awesome, heavy as shit.

staind4life best band ever for me... greets for holland aaron lewis best voice in rock?

a solo album would be good.. hes got a good voice and any cover hes done live on acoustic has been amazing..

I head-banged for three hours straight about six years ago, and get a headache when I try now. So, no. His "So they'll miss what we have to offer" bothered me, but...it's what fame does, I suppose. I can deal with the other albums, for now. I just hope their next album will amaze.

Hmmm... System Of A Down, Staind, and I believe there were some others taking breaks... I guess it just proves that today's bands just can't stick it out like they used to

They deserve a break. I want them to stay mellow, thats what they do best. Heavy music is starting to get on my nerves.
    Dewey1040
i am dissapointed as well about the break but i completely agree with the decision. people have started to break away from staind because their new style isnt as good as their old. Aaron will do solo stuff for 2 years i suspect then they will do another album and i hope its more like Break the cycle or Dysfunction. If it is i think that they will be as good as ever.

I don't care if you liked them or not, that is one busy 10 years schedule. Thats write record tour x5. Everyone should have a decent size break after that.

I'd go see them if they can stop touring with crappy bands like 3 doors down. It would definently be nice to see their heavy roots again, they can write great mellow stuff too as long as the producer dont make them write crappy ones, any ways have a good vacation staind!

They can't go away forever! I'd miss them too much! But I suppose they can't be selfish to their families. It must be hard not being able to grow old with the ones you love, and being separated for lengthy periods of time, traveling from one hotel to another ...Plus it'd be nice to see Aaron cool it and get a little bit more healthier; I'm sure that'd happen once he's settled in back home. When they come back, and I hope it's not to far away. I just know they'll be greater than ever. Once they've had a rest and done a bit of discovery of who they are. They should be an unstoppable force ready to take on the world again! For me, nothing can beat Break the Cycle or Dysfunction album-wise. They're just awesome!

True. But lately (since the grey album) they've become kind of boring.

Don't get me wrong, I love Staind and am dissapointed that they are going on a break for a while, but does every front-man or guitarist always go on a solo career?

Staind's been my favorite band for about 5 or 6 years now and i will always supoprt their older albums..but i won't even listen to their new album, Chapter IV. i can't stand it..that's not staind! their a headbanging band and i can't stand their new c.d.
