Stryper Bassist Says He Was Fired Because He Remarried & That's a No-No in Christianity

Tim Gaines, the longtime bassist of Christian rockers Stryper, said his recent firing from the fold was due to the fact that he recently remarried.

Last month, Tim told KNAC that "all hell broke loose" after he split up with his previous wife, "which is taboo as far as Christianity, I guess." He added:

"I'm not the only guy in Stryper to have gotten a divorce. Everybody in the band is married to divorced people. And I'm the bad guy, but everybody else has done it too, so?

"Whatever. Live in glass houses and everything will be exposed at some point or another."

Soon after that, the band released a statement saying Tim's "erratic and hostile behavior" is to blame, saying:

"Dear fans and friends,

"We wish Timothy Gaines nothing but the best, and we will always remember the history and the good times that we all shared together.

"We have done our best to remain courteous and professional despite the barrage of disrespectful comments, posts and tweets that have been made public time and time again by Tim and [his new wife] Brandee on what seems to be a daily basis.

"The accusations that have been made that our decision to terminate Tim is based on his divorce couldn't be further from the truth. We have all struggled with separation and divorce in our relationships over the years, and it has never affected anyone's position within the band.

"The band decided to take a hiatus in order to give Tim time and space to work through his personal issues. However, based on Tim and Bradee's intentional, erratic and hostile behavior, which has damaged Stryper and threatened to undermine the band's ability to go forward professionally, we were left with no other choice but to part ways. Tim and Brandee have left their scars and have hurt us in more ways than you can imagine.

"We were also forced to retain legal representation based on a public post/threat that Tim made about suing the band in 2016.

"Tim is our brother, and we love him, but this has become a toxic relationship at this point and due to that, we cannot continue on with our mission and stay true to who we are and what we represent with Tim in the band.

"We're excited about the future and we will be making an official announcement very soon about our new album, tour and bassist.

"We love our fans and we appreciate your support and patience as we work through these changes. The best is yet to come!"

And now, Tim noted in a new statement:

"My recent demise within the Stryper camp came about because I actually have testicles. I stood my ground when I was told to give up the woman I love, (who is now my wife) or get fired.

"I threatened to sue. I was 'conveniently' fired 10 days after my marriage to Brandee, on the grounds that I made some posts threatening to sue the band for wrongful termination. They called it 'threats.'

"My recommendation to Oz [Fox, guitar] and Bob [Sweet, drummer]? Grow some balls and stand up to that pathetic one and his conniving wife, or just continue to live a life of mediocrity.

"You both have been threatened with termination over the last several years. He has a million dollar home. You rent and drive 20 year old broken down cars. You both have NOTHING to show for your 35 years. Quit playing rock star and get a clue dumbshitz."

I agree does anyone on this site actually listen to them, and this is an honest question, I'm not hating at all and genuinely want to know.

Ohh no!   Who will they get to tour all the second rate tribal casinos now?

Tim has left Stryper more times than Dave has left Slayer. Hard to believe this is even a story anymore.

Not sure what the fuss is all about. Stryper had some exposure in the 80s, possibly a little bit of relevance at that time. But today, they are irrelevant. They could all break up and I wouldn't even know. Most people wouldn't even care.

Well shit, they way they are acting I'm surprised any of them are christian xD

    Because Christians are normally "rational"?

Stryper's a kick ass band, check their live videos. They got some newer heavy tunes and did a pretty cool cover album of Priest, maiden, Ozzy songs etc...I know a lot of people might not dig them cause of their lyrics or the way they dressed in the 80's, they don't look like that now thank God. I've always dug Tim and he seems like a pretty good player and seemed like he was always getting taken advantage of at times. Stryper is like a Michael Sweet project. He's always written most of the songs, so it's kinda like a Mustaine/Megadeth thing. Bands don't always get along, life goes on. Things change and in the words of George Harrison "All things must pass"...

    That's a lot of typing.  I think he's seriously a fan.

If you think that's a lot of reading then god forbid you ever see a book. Off to play a shoe. Rock on dude! I'll drink Jager and toast all of you!

Don't forget your denim jacket with the sharpie marker band names and all the patches from the Stryper 1985 world tour.

Well, first of all... Who in his five senses marries to someone called BRANDEE? Point goes to the Sweets.

When you all are this messed up over someone else's marriage..... It's time to try something other than faith....  Maybe lots of drugs and alcohol.

The band brought Gaines back into the band multiple times after he left so he seems to be the toxic one.

If I play golf at a Country Club, they tell me I can't play because I refuse to follow their rules, they kick me out. If you don't like it, leave.  Love how people today think they're "special" and rules that have been written for 100 years should be adjusted because of them, a nobody. We are all nobodies.  If you don't like the rules, start your own place or leave.  Pretty simple.

Umm, did you notice the part where basically everyone in the band is divorced and remarried or married to a divorcee? Rules that are selectively or discriminatorily enforced are not valid rules. But on the other hand Gaines also seems like a nut and his firing had nothing to do with how he got divorce and married.

Well, it's Stryper, that they're crazy christians is kinda what's fun about them. They're point-and-laugh material

Gotta love these fake Christians who say they love God and sin like crazy... I swear I can't wait to hear the "Lord Lord" coming from fakes like this. NEWSFLASH If you marry a divorced woman you are committing adultery for the both of you. It does not go just one way, hypocrites.
    pressureproject
Not sure where you're reading in the handbook that says Christians don't sin any longer.

I only have ever heard of this band in the movie "Pain and Gain" when the Rock refers to them as being on a reunion tour in Jerusalem. THATS THE GOSPEL BROTHER
