The Decemberists have tacked more dates onto their in-progress US run, dubbed "A Short Fazed Hovel" tour, pushing the itinerary into early October.
The indie rockers, who have been on the road since mid-May, will pick back up July 17 in Redmond, WA, before heading into Canada for a handful of shows. Since last check, 11 performances have been added to the schedule, including stops in Buffalo, NY (8/13); Holyoke, MA (8/16); and two shows in Chicago (Aug. 6-7), among others. The road trip wraps with an appearance Oct. 3 at Austin City Limits Festival. The Heartless Bastards will handle opening duties for several summer shows.
The extensive tour supports The Decemberists' fifth studio set, "The Hazards Of Love," which surfaced in March. The record debuted at No. 14 on The Billboard 200 and features special guests Becky Stark (Lavender Diamond), Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond), Robyn Hitchcock, Rebecca Gates (The Spinanes) and Jim James (My Morning Jacket).
The band will continue performing two sets each night - the first a full performance of "The Hazards Of Love," and the second comprised of material from their earlier discography. Lavender Diamond's Becky Stark and My Brightest Diamond's Shara Worden will join the band on stage as special guests. Opening support will come from Andrew Bird and Blind Pilot on a handful of shows, as well as the Heartless Bastards for select dates.
