What do you do if you're in a failing rock n' roll band these days? Well according to Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson you join a musical! Yes! We could hardly believe it ourself this morning when the press release came through our inbox. The once respected(ish) musician will now be joining "Jeff Wayne's Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds The New Generation". It seems that Wilson wants to try out the career path of David Essex, we just hope he doesn't decided to marry a women who is the same age as his daughter or do a Tom Cruise and hook-up with a women who looks like a 13-year old. According to the press release Wilson will be joining one of the world's "finest actors", Liam Neeson in the "challenging" role as The Artilleryman. It seems after a failing fourth album the "frontman of indie rock band Kaiser Chiefs, who sold over three million copies of their debut album Employment in 2005" is a bit short of cash. Thanks for the report to Gigwise.com.

This is the worst article I've ever seen. The Kaiser Chiefs are in no way a failing rock band. Their last album recieved heavy praise for its originality. How on earth are they a failing band? And why does a singer joining a musical make him "in need for some extra cash?" Are musicians no longer allowed to pursue other interests? I don't even know how to properly express how annoying this is. This is all rambling opinion that really doesn't do any justice to anything.

Fire the guy who wrote this..this is tabloid press for crying out loud. There have been great musicals,Liam Neeson is awesome and everyone is entitled to do whatever they want with their career and explore any kind of path they want to.The Kaiser Chiefs are a great band anyway.

maybe this gigwise writer should consider a different career path also... On topic though, nothing new. Many people juggle acting AND musical careers. Nothing wrong with it at all. Good for him I say!

Aww, somebody doesn't like the Kaiser Chiefs... or... musicals? I'm with him on both of those -- musicals and the Kaiser Chiefs are shit. But I don't see how anything in the article constitutes the headline. If I were to say that, with no further explanation as to why, my comment would be deleted, and I would recieve a warning. Plus, I don't see how the singer from the Kaiser Chiefs "must be low on cash" when he's doing the same thing Liam Neeson, a successful actor, is doing. Liam Neeson must be low on cash, too? This is one of the worst articles I've ever seen. I go to the websites that you borrow articles from, UG -- Blabbermouth, Hennemusic, Gigwise, etc. -- and I can't figure out why you would use this article. You pass on plenty of potentially click-worthy articles, only to select this one.

What's up with the cheap tabloid tone? Coupled with glaring grammatical mistakes? Please delete this article, UG. It's embarassing.

The War of the Worlds is a bloody amazing piece of music and the show is incredible. Why's he hating on it so much?
