After some long-awaited Tool tour dates mysteriously disappeared last week, they have been officially confirmed and bunded with some new stops. Is the new Tool album ready?

Tool fans began frothing at the mouth when two shows were announced for 2012 last week. The dates mysteriously vanished from the internet within hours, but they have now reappeared and been confirmed.

Audio Ink Radio found that the two dates were legit, and according to Ticketmaster there's now an extra two dates, suggesting the band will be booking plenty more stops for a proper 2012 tour.

Perhaps more exciting is that a tour suggests the band has finally finished its newest album. It's last record "10,000 Days" was released in 2006, and the band has previously taken up to five years to complete production on a new record. This would mark the longest gap between releases, and fans have been bursting to hear new music from the progressive metal masters.

Frontman Maynard James Keenan is facing a busy 2012, as his side-project Puscifer is also planning for a stretch on the road between February and March.

Will you be trekking out to see Tool hit the stage with their stratospheric music and mind-bending visual show? Share your excitement for this and their new record in the comments.

Tool 2012 tour dates (so far):

01/14 - Reno Events Center - Reno, NV 01/17 - Tuscon Arena Tucson, AZ 01/18 - Tingley Coliseum - Albuquerque, NM 01/24 - Huntingdon Center - Toledo, OH

Thanks for the report to AudioInkRadio.com.

Not a huge Tool fan, but I'm excited to hear a new album. 10,000 days was masterful. The amount of musicianship these guys craft into their art is beyond words, and though I'm not huge into them, I have nothing but the utmost respect for their musical talent. Technical music doesn't have to be all solos, it can be intricate bass and guitar intertwined, and Tool have defined that.

I bought all their albums so that Maynard can afford his waffles

These guys seem pretty cool. I'm glad they're on tour and giving their fans a good performance. It shows they aren't tools.

I want to see them live so bad, I hope they come to Europe.. I think if I witnessed Maynard's scream on The Grudge in person, I'd die on the spot in awe.

If Maynard did that scream live he would probably die on the spot too.

I went to a tool concert last summer... Not impressed at all. Really the only thing that stuck in my mind about the show was the odd positioning of where Maynard stood. That said it was boring how he simply stood their the entire time... like the rest of the band did. Very boring show. The all girl japanese band that was their opening was very bad, but much more interesting. Not sure why they have such a huge following. I have heard a few of their cd's as well and just don't see any appeal. To each their own I suppose

This is the kind of news that UG should focus on... not the usual Nickelback, Lulu and Courtney Love crap. I've seen Tool live twice, amazing shows! I hope to see them again. Can't wait to hear a new album.

They need to come over to the UK. I don't want to wait for 10,000 days for them to finally come over again...

"It's last record "10,000 Days" was released in 2006, and the band has previously taken up to five years to complete production on a new record". They were talking about 10,000 Days, which was released just under two years after they started writing in late '04

Hope they don't just tour the western US. Not that it matters, I work at an airport and can fly anywhere I want for free.

I like Tool but people put them on a huge pedestal. The Tool fanboys are kind of a turnoff, i never thought a fanbase could make me like a band less but somehow it happened. I actually just got sick of hearing people praise the drummer....or shall i say "The drummer's drumset dude!!! its freaking huge man!!"

They're still touring on their record they released over 5 1/2 years ago. Wtf? MJK needs to stop with the wine and Puscifer and put some time into Tool. After all, that's the only reason he's able to pursue his other interests. Although, I did go see APC at Red Rocks a few months back so I shouldn't complain too much...
    darth awsome
They better be supporting a new album. Maybe they'll pull a Radiohead and not tell any one its coming out until the week of.

Saw them in 2010, it was a good show but I paid $90 for a ticket and they only played 12 songs. Chances are I won't be seeing them again.

They are comming to London, Ontario in January, I will be there and it will kick ass.

I saw Tool once...wasn't any different from APC or any other stadium show, in fact they're all the same.
