Travis Barker, drummer for Plus 44 and formerly for Blink-182, was severely burned this weekend after the plane he was traveling in crashed shortly after take-off. Also injured during the crash was famous DJ Adam AM Goldstein. Both are being treated for severe burns but are expected to make a full recovery.

Unfortunately the four remaining passengers on the plane were killed in the accident. This includes pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, and co-pilot James Bland, 52, as well as Barker's assistant Chris Baker, 29, and his security guard Charles Still, 25.

The musicians were traveling in a private jet heading from South Carolina to California on Friday night, September 19th. Officials speculate that the plane blew a tire when it overran the runway and skidded out onto the highway where it crashed into an embankment.

One eye-witness reports seeing a fireball speeding across the road a few hundred yards ahead of him. Once he arrived on the scene and called for help he says he remembers seeing Barker and Goldstein standing in the middle of road engulfed in flames and desperately trying to put each other out. He claims that Goldstein told him of the remaining four passengers on the plane, but the flames were too strong at that point for him to do anything.

The two are being treated at Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia. They're being treated for 2nd and 3rd degree burns, but are expected to make a full recovery. They did not sustain any other injuries in the accident.

Report by David Lowe-Bianco.

RIP to those who died, and I hope Travis and DJ AM make speedy recoveries. I can't help but wonder what Tom's reaction to all this will be though.

i knew of this already but yea it sucks. I wonder if he'll keep drumming or if the burns will affect this.

RIP all, and get well soon Travis and DJ. Btw in the news report it said that DJ was burned all over the body. Travis was burned only from the waist down.

I hate to look at it this way, but I honestly think that Tom will start talking to Mark and Travis because of this. It doesn't matter if they get back together even though I'd love for that to happen but as long as Travis and DJ AM are ok, thats all that matters....Get well soon Travis/DJ AM

Saw a report on this last night (I was Augusta which is where they're being treated) and it said that both of them should be recovered and back to playing to their full potential in under 12 months.

That's because UG doesn't put any news up over the weekends.

I was so sad when I heard this...I mean Travis Barker, whether you like him or not, inspired thousands of kids worldwide to learn the drums, including myself. A world without Travis is unimaginable: He's an icon. Not because he's the "best" drummer out there, but because he really did complicate drumming in the pop/rock music genre. And man, watching two of your closest buddies burst into flames before your eyes (Travis's assisntint and Bodyguard) must have been horrible. RIP and get well soon...

yeah ok lets get a plane full of 50% wealthy people and 50% poor people and im sure only the poor will die.....shut up serious busines

This is 4 days late. Guys, the reason they survived was because they jumped off the plan.

That says a lot about America. Hey dude, this is a music based site. You wanna talk about that unfortunate event, go to msn message boards. Now eff off with your American bashing, I get pretty ****ing sick of it. I feel sorry for all those people, and in fact have prayed for all of them and thier family. Guess where I am from... AMERICA. Stop making generalizations of my country. And no one is freaking out about it, they are all saying RIP to the ones who didn't make it, and are all hoping that Travis and DJ AM will survive. It's not like they are rioting or something because of this. To the Moderators: is there not some rule about bashing of countries? Anyways, my prayers go out to Travis and DJ, hope they get better and still make music. hey chill out man this guy is just trying to say that we should think about other lives other then muscians like Travis Barker, who i very well respect btw.
No...actually he was bashing America. Learn to read? RIP to all who died, and best of wishes to Barker and Goldstein.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but they said on my local news a few days ago that the reason they were on that plane is because the wife of one of the guys who died was giving birth and he wanted to be with her...

[Sorry for the double] I remember seeing YEARS ago in a blink documentary thing Travis saying how much he hates flying and if it was possible he'd much rather drive places.

Just for the sake of this the name on his picture on the front page says Travis Baker. Change it.

Woah.....that is INSANE.... Thank God Travis didn't die. With 4 other deaths he's unbelievably lucky!!!!
    E_squared
Not that Travis is the only one that matters, of course. I feel for the ones who weren't as fortunate, honestly.....it's just that I sort of look up to Travis as a musician.

people aren't really looking at wat this means...it was mentioned a few times but still...this is travis barker we're talking about...this might just put an end 2 his drumming :/ idk we'll c how bad the burns really are (hopefully soon...get well quick and RIP to the other 4 passengers)

No one has the right to make bad remarks about Travis Barker or DJ AM. Personally I do not care for Blink 182 or +44, but still this is a sad event. I'm glad that at least two people survived, and I hope they recieve a full recovery. RIP for the people who died tho. Damn, people are such *****s nowadays.

I noticed how you used "effected" instead of "affected". R.I.P. to the four who died.

+1 This is a MUSIC website, hence only news related to MUSIC will be on it. RIP to the 4 people who did not survive. Hope Travis makes a full recovery, because in my opinion, he is the best drummer around.

I know this probably isn't a good time to be picking at little details. But on the UG homepage, it says "Travis Baker" on the pic. Again, hope they recover soon. RIP to those who weren't so fortunate.

i always hate to hear about things like this happening to people, and i hope everything works out for him. but at the same time, its a guitar site. why is a story about a drummer the big headline?

True. Weird enough that everybody I talked to about this also brought up his tattoos...but after knowing he and dj will make a full recovery. Its sad we have a lot of sick mofos out there posting disgusting comments.

that pretty crazy. i used to be a huge fan of blink-182 but when they broke up i couldn't stand +44 or A&A. def. a good drummer though.

Why can you not believe this? Any of them could have died. None of them could have died. Just because they're famous doesn't mean anything.

Checked To all of you saying "I wonder if his tattoos are gonna be the same": try to be a little more respectful about this. 2 people were injured and 4 lost their lives, and all you can think about are his tattoos? That's not right.

Maybe he'll have to re-learn how to drum, and even acquire some decent technique this time around. Sucks that four people died. Insane that they didn't even really get off the ground... Musicians just love dying on account of trying to fly places.
