Travis Barker Will Join Blink-182 For 2013 Australia Tour

Blink-182 have been confirmed to take part in next year's Soundwave Festival, which takes place across Australia in February next year. Travis Barker had previously said that the trio would have to tour Australia without him as he is still struggling with a phobia of flying as a result of the 2008 plane crash he endured while travelling with DJ AM, but he now appears to have changed his mind. The drummer previously said: "It's hard to say what the band could do or what its potential is, because I can't really get everywhere." He did add though that he hoped to overcome his phobia for the sake of his children, adding: "I'm contemplating getting knocked out and getting on a plane to Australia. I want to overcome that eventually. My kids are scared to death to fly. I want them to witness me overcome it." However, when the promoter of Soundwave Festival A.J Maddah announced that the pop-punk trio would be taking part in Soundwave 2013, he moved quickly to assure ticket buyers that Barker would be making the trip, tweeting: "Mark+Tom+Travis. Yes Travis." Blink-182 have just completed their UK summer tour, which they finished late last month with a pair of intimate shows at London's O2 Academy Brixton and Manchester's O2 Apollo. Earlier this year, the band revealed they're already working on the follow-up to the album, with frontman Mark Hoppus stating he'd been writing new songs while Tom DeLonge has been out on the road with his side-project Angels And Airwaves. Thanks to NME for the report.

its good that Travis is making an attempt to overcome his fear. If that were to happen to anyone else I'm sure they'd call it quits and never set foot on an aircraft... i know i would...

That's pretty cool to hear. I'm not even a Blink-182 fan but the fact that he has the balls to overcome a fear from an incident that could've killed him is pretty awesome

Well, just look at the singer from Ben Burnley from Breaking Benjamin. His fears have prevented the band from playing outside of Canada and the US. Think how badly that's affected their fanbase

The last paragraph is the best news for me. Always liked Mark's work better. In the early years they were both great, but in years Tom started making too melodic sounds .

Ben's a pussy anyway, he broke up his band via email over a dispute about a remix of a song that was given permission to be used by other members of the same band, and that was somehow wrong. Ben Burnley - the new Axl Rose.

Just me talking but when Travis said that he wont tour with Blink, the first thing that came into my mind was Mike Portnoy filling in for them. But still great news

Soundwave is quickly turning into the big day out, it looks like that if I ever want to go to a good festival, I'll have to leave australia and go america or the uk

If my sources are right the headliners this year are, blink 182, linkin park, the offspring and maybe paramore, I just hope I'm wrong when the proper line up is released tomorrow, and I'll admit last year was good, and in cut that I missed steel panther

Luckily, you were wrong. Won't matter who else is on the bill if Metallica are headlining. You were right about one thing though, the big day out has sucked for a long time now.
