The awards season competition just got a little sharper. Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor has been nominated for a Golden Globe award for his work on the score for The Social Network. Reznor and collaborator Atticus Ross are nominees in the Best Original Score category, it was announced on Tuesday. The rocker will be going up against more experienced film composers, including Hans Zimmer (Inception), Danny Elfman (Alice in Wonderland), Alexandre Desplat (The King's Speech) and A.R. Rahman (127 Hours). The Social Network received six nominations overall, including a nod for Best Motion Picture Drama. You can see if Reznor will get a chance to give an industrial-sized acceptance speech on January 16, when the ceremony is broadcast on NBC. Thanks for the report to Bryan Wawzenek, Gibson.com.

Reznor or Hans Zimmer to win. Both made brilliant soundtracks for brilliant films.

Hm... Reznor will have a hard time beating Hans Zimmer. Zimmer is (IMO) the best movie composer out there today. All his works are so epic and emotionally inspiring. Reznor did a brilliant job with the music on The Social Network though. You'd have to be really ignorant to music to not notice it. As long as either of those two guys win, I'll be happy. Don't care about any of the others.

A bunch of people made a huge deal about the soundtrack. I didn't even notice any music except for when they're partying.
