Ultimate-Guitar.com officially announces the launch of Ultimate Guitar Tabs, an easy and convenient application for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch that allows guitarists to access guitar tablatures, bass tablatures and chords from the world's largest online database of tabs.

In just over a week since its debut, Ultimate Guitar Tabs has rocketed to the number one spot in the iTunes App Store's top paid music downloads category, and is in the top 50 paid downloads overall, earning four and five star ratings and rave reviews from users.

The app is the latest offering from Ultimate Guitar's mobile applications division, which designs and develops music-related, multi-platform gaming and music applications for Ultimate Guitar, its network of sites and third parties.

"We are pleased to offer musicians a vehicle for accessing tabs via their mobile devices, and excited by the immediate success of Ultimate Guitar Tabs," said Ultimate Guitar's founder Eugeny Naidenov. "We are building a media company that includes a mobile platform to connect musicians with music and each other - anywhere, anytime."

I think this was a good app, but since this is an UG app, I think that it should include: - Browsing the forums - Wieving profiles, bands, etc. Also editing such If you guys added those things, it would be even more awesome. It's good app anyway.

I'd like just a plain UG mobile site. Not an app...but, a site that any phone user can go on -- an intuitive site... that makes things fit the screen

It's two...freaking...dollars! I live overseas where the price triples and I just downloaded it. So why all the complaints? Plus, the auto-scroll and offline viewing features are quite neat.

If only UG sourced this from an external site like all their articles. On topic, if I had an iPhone, would definitely check it out

They should release one for people who don't care about being hip as well.

Eh, I'd buy if it supported Guitar Pro format. Otherwise, what's the point? And way to make an article out of an advertisement

Glad to see so many Android people out there! But yes, another huge +1 for an Android app. Paid or free.

There is one, it's been out for a bit. I'm not naming it because I'm trying to promote it here, if you look, you will find. I'm just surprised UG didn't implement that into their app. Possibly a future update? I don't see how an app that does less has rocketed to the number one spot in the iTunes App Stores top paid music downloads category, I love UG but their competitive advantage on this product is significantly lacking, especially when my money is asked for. Beef up the app!

This. I'd definitely buy this if it came out for Android.

I think this app should be updated eventually to support almost every feature of the site. Including the news, reviews, lessons, forums, etc. THAT would be awesome.

My sentiments exactly. Actually, a GP app would more appropriate; I know that the 'droids with the Snapdragon processor would be able to more than handle it.

I'd get it if it didn't require software version 3.1.2. I'm on 3.0 and I can't be arsed to upgrade.

for droid users wanting this really bad, just get tabdroid and you can download powertab and guitar pro as well as read the tab online, until we get this

wow, this got so many responses to quick lol. I think it's worth paying 2 mere dummies for this. I prefer to be able to see a whole line than go around just scrolling to see a thingy.

arg why does it cost money. not complaining but thats kind of annoying to pay money for things i can only access in certain areas anyway
