Slash made good on his word that Velvet Revolver would regroup this month and begin auditioning singers to replace Scott Weiland.

Slash offered fans an extensive update about his current activities including a tidbit about a possible new solo album and this about Velvet Revolver: "VR is back together jamming, trying out singers. No updates yet. But it's great to hook up with Duff, Matt & Dave after all this time. I'll keep you posted on any interesting developments from those sessions as they happen. The creative juices are definitely flowing. I'm positive something awesome is going to surface soon."

He also had updates about his current solo activities: "The 'We're All Gonna Die' tour has been such a good f--king time I can't even begin to express! From the 1st show at the infamous Roxy in Los Angeles last April, through Europe, Asia, Australia, Canada, the US, including the final 2 shows at the House of Blues back in LA, we had the most unbelievable response - more than I could possibly have wished for!

"For that, I want to thank you all for your unbridled energy & passion (plus an extra touch of mayhem). I honestly haven't seen that kind of intensity at a rock concert in a long time! That is what has made the shows so f--king great across the board; Your insatiable appetite for genuine, in your face rock & roll, no doubt!

"On that note, I can hardly wait to get rolling again in Jan. We start in the States then hit Asia, Australia & South America/Mexico. We're working on UK/European dates as well, Alter Bridge schedule permitting. I will announce all the exact calendar dates as soon as they are completely finalized & that will be forthcoming very soon. Also, for those of you in South Africa, we want badly to come over, but the promoters there have to ship us out. So get on them!

"I'll also be out promoting the 'Slash' Deluxe Edition. We've put together a really cool box set of the original 14 song album, plus bonus studio, live & acoustic tracks. There are a couple demos in there, videos, live footage, interviews with the different artists & more. I'll be popping up here, there & wherever, talking about that etc.

"I'm also working on killer new material for a future solo (or not) release. The details of which will be coming down the road as well.

"So all in all, there's a lot of really cool stuff happening! That's it for now, looking forward to seeing you out there next year!!"

Thanks for the report to antiMusic.com.

Duff is a great singer though;I don't see why slash wouldn't want him to sing.
I guess Duff serves more as a backing vocalist for the band as well as being a badass bassist. If he couldn't focus on the vocals while he played bass they would have to find someone to replace him on bass and even if he did, someone would have to do BV..just wouldn't work out.I love Loaded though.

MYLES KENNEDY all the way. I was blown away by what Slash and Myles did on the solo album. Starlight is just beautiful.

yeah, curse the professional musician that wants to make some money doing what he loves. Do you live in a shed in the wood or something? or is it jealousy for a guy thats successful at something you're horrible at? Get a REAL opinion about the subject.

duff isnt the kind of singer they want. its not a case of a good singer just. you need a frontman as well with showmanship plus of course the voice needs to fit into what music they have wrote for the next album, we havent heard it nor know what its really like or what sound they want so its hard to suggest who would suit.

I seriously don't know why he doesn't.. his work on GNRs covers album was really good.

He's recording with Jane's Addiction. Duff was a part of it for a while too. If Velvet Revolver really want to continue they really need to get someone completely unknown in order to avoid speculation, assumptions and expectations.

Whoa.....they're STILL looking for a new singer? C'mon already there's got to be a million good singers out there that can replace Scott Weiland! Are they even trying? Either replace him already or call it quits.

Myles kennedy, Jeff scott soto, or miljenko matijevic are the only available singers i can think of that are awesome

They are back together. They're a band that doesn't have to rely on a singer for their sound.

Russell Allen would be a great singer. But if he left symphony x... well... I'd have to kill myself.

This mention made me happy...although apparently he was invited back when they were first auditioning singers in '03 or '04, and he respectfully declined.

im confused, how are velvet revolver supposed to work on getting a new singer and (i presume) new material if slash is going to be touring all next year?

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he recruited Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge as a new frontman, since he loved working with him as much as he did during the solo tour. He would have something to do while Creed is busy.

YES! I think he'd be great, I wonder if they've considered that? Or maybe he doesn't want to...

Originally Izzy was in the band and offered to sing but he left when they said they wanted a lead singer.

That comment was at pineaple. Slash wanted an unknown for VR an I believe Myles said no more or less. Also I doubt he'll have and huge amoun of time to tour with myles seeing as abiii just came out in Europe and nov 9 fo US
