Vince Neil: 'Motley Crue's Not Breaking Up'

Meanwhile, band signs contract banning future tours.

Ultimate Guitar

As Motley Crue are making headlines with the latest announcement of their final tour, singer Vince Neil gave a seemingly contradictory statement, noting that Crue is in fact "not breaking up."

Asked about the band's future by KDKB, Vince explained, "Here's the thing. Motley Crue's not breaking up. We're still gonna be making music. We're still [gonna be selling] merchandise and stuff like Motley Crue things."

The singer added that although a full-length album is an unlikely endeavor in the future, an occasional tune or two might pop up along the way. "We'll probably just make music - do songs for certain things," he said. "Motley Crue will still be around, we're just not gonna tour anymore. That's really kind of it."

Meanwhile, the band has signed a contract banning future tours after 2015. The Cessation of Touring Agreement will be effective starting the end of 2015 and was signed in front of global media in Los Angeles last week.

Finally, the Crue guys have addressed a hypothetical Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame reunion, admitting they'd have to think about it. "Something like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we'd have to sit down and talk about it," Neil told Loudwire, with bassist Nikki Sixx adding: "It's 'cease to tour.' I think it's going to be interesting when the next band announces a farewell tour. They're going to say, 'Well is it a farewell tour like Motley Crue? Or is it like all the other bands.'"

Check out the band's final tour dates below, more shows will be announced soon.

Vince only sings every other word anyway.
    every other verse.
    Every other song.
    Every other gig.
Why do people always announce full-on retirements and then say "Oh, I'm not retiring, I'm just not doing as much touring". Just as I was beginning to buy Crue's whole retirement thing, Vince comes out with this. Personally I think it's in their best interest to break up. Their most recent music has sucked, and they're a bit old to be preaching drugs and sex to people through music, because now it just looks lame.
It's the bellend of the world as we know it, and I feel fine.
"The most important thing about a farewell tour is that the band doesn't lie to the fans, and the band doesn't tour and then come back years later," Sixx told Rolling Stone back in October." Well, at least it didn't take years.
It doesn't look like they will be coming to my city unfortunately. That's ok. I will just catch on when they do their next farewell tour.
Yeah, yeah, yeah--the Final Tour--whatever. You'll be back next year---like the McRib.
This just all sounds like an excuse to jack up the price of tickets. "You better pay that extra amount because it's your last chance.I promise."
    Dr. Genitals
Plus, a lot more people probably bought tickets in the first place because it was their "last chance." It was all a whole publicity stunt because they needed attention. They went from being a washed up old band to being a washed up old band that had high ticket sales. Shame on them.
Can't wait to see them, looks like it will be 2015 for Europe. I predict Download or SonisphereUK headline slot for 2015!
how has ultimate-guitar not had the motley crue final tour/breakup announcement in the news section! this announcement was made almost a week ago about one of the biggest bands in the world and no mention of it on this website until now. saw em in 2005 and it was an awesome show
I'm gonna have to see this when it comes to the UK, no way am I missing out. And with Alice Cooper opening? Forget it, I'm already putting up a tent outside the venue!
I usually don't like to say things like this...but I wish they would retire and be done!
Can't wait to see them! Vince and Sikki (you'll understand if you read Nikki's book) are awesome!
Nothing against Alice, but if this is the last tour Crue is doing Id rather see An Evening with Motley Crue tyoe thing with no opening act and just 3 hours of Crue
vince and mick couldnt do that long of show as for farewell tour...Ozzy started one when zakk was still in band!!! i went to the "no more tours tour"
I also went to that final needed another house and several more small dogs to shit in that house
Saw them in 2006 and it was awesome. But ever since then Vince doesn't even try anymore :/ The first time was the best and nothing lived up in the years after. It's probably time to go, or make it clear and not pull a McRib.
And in a few days, Nikki comes out and says Vince is wrong. Next week, Mick states that he's in his own little world and has nothing to say about either. Meanwhile during all this, Tommy is being Tommy. On a serious not, I think they are literally only following the "no touring" part of the contract. Loopholes in their own documents. Who knew.
What the hell is a "cessation of touring agreement"?!
looking up the word cessation might be a good start. If that doesn't help, perhaps rephrase the question.
"We're not breaking up, we're still gonna be selling merchandise" So basically you're trying to squeeze a final profit out of your band now you've decided to quit?
None of these people are awesome. They're painted dicks. And why aren't they splitting up? Surely it's obvious they stopped having anything to offer as soon as they left school?
Well, I was going at attend this so called "retirement tour" only to find the nearest location is 21 a hour drive away. Oh well, their loss.
