Vinnie Paul on Hellyeah Lineup Change: 'We Wanted to Bring in a Bro'

Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul discussed the recent lineup change, noting that the band is set to return "stronger than ever."

As reported, guitarist Greg Tribbett (Mudvayne) and bassist Bob "Zilla" Kakaha parted ways with the group and Kyle Sanders was soon brought into the fold as the new bass player. According to Vinnie, the group wanted to "bring in a bro."

"After we realized we were gonna have to part ways with Bob and Greg, we wanted to make sure that we brought somebody in that was a 'bro,' somebody that we felt comfortable with," the drummer told RockNLive (via Blabbermouth). "We didn't wanna go through an audition process and bring a whole bunch of different people in that we had no idea, anything about their character or dynamic or what they were all about."

Confirming that the touring guitarist will soon be announced, Paul added, "And the band's gonna be stronger than ever. There's nothing like having some fresh blood out on the road with you. And these guys are gonna kill, we're gonna kill, and we've got a great new record to tour with."

Hellyeah have recently detailed their new album "Blood for Blood," confirming a June 9 release (June 10 in North America) and sharing full track listing. The album will be produced by Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch, In This Moment) at his Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"Blood For Blood" track listing:

01. Sangre Por Sangre (Blood for Blood)
02. Demons in the Dirt
03. Soul Killer
04. Moth
05. Cross to Bier (Cradle of Bones)
06. DMF
07. Gift
08. Hush
09. Say When
10. Black December

Zakk Wylde should join, and they should play Pantera songs, and do nothing but pinch harmonics on stage for 3 hours.

BLS's new single is really good though.

I personally like his tone and playing very much(at least on the records, have no experience on live shows). I guess Zakk Wylde is one of those artists you either love or hate... Lyrics could be more positive though.

with god awful tone and pentatonic boxes.

I'd guess you're a Dream Theater fan with your snobbery

Actually you're quite wrong. I appreciate what Zakk does on a guitar. Look at his video for Ain't No Sunshine if you didn't get the reference...

If someone doesn't like Zakk Wylde because all he does is play mindless wank, why would someone like a band best known for making equally mindless wank? Makes absolutely no sense. Wank is wank, whether it's show-offy and overly-technical or just jam-packed with unnecessary pinch harmonics and 20 minute solos.

I saw them in Vegas. I'm glad Lamb of God headlined to wash out the horrible aftertaste.

Down is great. Kill Devil Hill is awesome. Hellyeah... ehhh at best. Vinnie really needs to team up with some better musicians

yes, and I'm starting to give up on Mudvayne.....initially they were supposed to be back this year. In next weeks news....Mudvayne slated to return in 2030

went to shake his hand at gigantour and he brushed me off…as a longtime fan I was a little shocked given that dime was basically egoless when I met him

still a great drummer and part of arguably the greatest metal band of all time
    kramer242
and as part of that band, while a good drummer, he still took the backseat to Phil and Dime. Either way he should show his fans some appreciation....without the fans he would be nothing other than a drummer probably playing in a garage or basement somewhere, or worse, he would have had to give up playing to get a job to support himself.

'Arguable' being the operative word, especially if your standards for best aren't limited to 'most popular'.

This, I don't see what was so special about Pantera, to me, it just sounded like generic as **** redneck guy that wants to fight everyone because he has such a small dick metal. (Not the band, the fans, just what it reminds me of. I could easily see Walk being played at a Neo-Nazi rally) inb4 "o mi god, fyt mi irl, u hav smal dik" metaphors, you know what kind of person i'm referring to. Those guys with buzzed heads that try to fight everyone as some weird compensation.

Vinnie without Dime is garbage. He better go and make his Steak House on Dallas Texas or something, has much more future than this.

I read the title and my first thought was "how many black people does Vinnie Paul even know?"

The fact that he used the word "Bro" is beyond douchey. This band is so bad/hokey/gimmickey, it's unbearable.
    sykest70
Lol bring Dime in. He's a bro. oh wait :^)
    Noble88

    Rex Brown gonna join Hellyeah?
    RnFnR95
I'm pretty sure Rex was in the original Hellyeah lineup and it didn't work out for some reason. i could be wrong about that though
