Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell has revealed that he will not be attending the second songwriting session for the band's new album, because of ongoing health issues.

As Campbell tells 98. 7 the Gater (via Blabbermouth), he's hoping to be fit and healthy for the band's summer tour with KISS:

"We're doing this record in installments. Our next installment is in May in Dublin, Unfortunately, I won't be going there for May, 'cause I've got some medical issues I've gotta take care of before [our summer] tour [with KISS]. But then our third and final installment will be in November, to finish up the record, and we're hoping for a release for early spring 2015."

Campbell went on to explain that the health issues are related to a resurgence of the Hodgkins Lymphoma, from which he was announced to be in remission in November 2013:

"I'm doing good. It seems to be, kind of, coming back again. But I'm not concerned about it. I mean, it's just a process. I mean, it always was a little bit touch-and-go. But, you know, it's just a process to get through. I mean, like I said, it's absolutely nothing I'm concerned about, but it's something I need to start the process, I need to get a handle on, so that I am free and clear to tour this summer. So, all good. You know what I mean?!"

I had the privilege of getting to meet and hang out with Vivian backstage about 5 years ago, and must say he was an extremely cool and genuine guy. His father had just passed away and i think he just rejoined the tour after dealing with that, but he hung out with us for a good while, had a beer, and was just really cool. I hate to hear he's having health issues. Hopefully he can get through it and keep rockin. Dude's a beast on guitar.

Way to go, having a positive approach on things often makes stuff easier, with an attitude like that, he will surely get over it soon. Get well dude.

Seems to say process a lot, I hope he's not trying to fool himself and is genuinely confident, otherwise that could affect his recovery.

That's a picture of Phil Collen not Vivian Campbell, but by the time everyone sees this, they'll have fixed it..

...no, it's a picture of Vivian Campbell when he was touring with "Last In Line" (...with hair loss due to chemo treatments).
