Watch: Chester Bennington's Son Draven Sends a Suicide Prevention Message

Draven Bennington, the 15-year-old son of late Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington, shared a video through National Suicide Prevention Week, saying:

"Hi, I'm Draven Bennington and I'm here on National Suicide Prevention Week.

"I want to make a commitment that I will talk to someone before I hurt myself when I am feeling depressed, sad, or going through a hard week, month, or year.

"And I want to challenge you to do the same - to help yourself, not hurt yourself."

That cant be an easy thing to address, for him or for anyone affected. Good on him.
No one cares about people who suffer of mental illness(es) until they are six feet under.

And you live, you should make the most of it, instead of being an a-hole
CAN WE PLEASE GET RID OF THIS FUCKING GUY? He's like the biggest dick ever here on UG. Trolling EVERY fucking article with fucking bullshit.
This is, by definition, new news. Literally brand new.

It is not being shoved in anyone's face - unless you faceplanted your mouse/phone as you clicked onto this article. It's a child who's father has committed suicide encouraging others to talk about feelings that could lead to a similar situation for others, during a week where there is a national campaign to raise awareness about preventing suicide.

Here's a good way to prevent news being "shoved down your face". Don't click on the link. There, problem solved.

Oh hey it's the troll, spouting your bullshit again. Do you think Chester killed himself, because he thought it would be good for his kids? He did it because he was obviously severly depressed and could not see any other option, not to mention he was sexually abused when he was young. You could call Chester selfish, but the demons the guy battled, i'm not surprised he took his life. I understand your point, but you can't just tell someone who is severly depressed to get over it, it takes time, ofc it's a tragedy it had to go this far.

I don't usually get angry at people on the Internet, but I'm about to make an exception. Fuck you.
It's OK man, exception was necessary, you can go back to not getting angry, you're nailing life
Well fuck you too Mr Sensitivity. When you are a father your kids come 1st... if you have to, just suck it up a deal with shit. Leaving 6 kids behind is fucking selfish.
It would be selfish if he made a conciliatory decision to kill him self in spite of his responsibilities as a father, husband, or the voice for millions through his music. When you suffer from depression it's a sickness that consumes your mind. It can and will distort not only how you feel but your priorities as it is a chemical imbalance in your brain that changes the way you feel and think. Obviously the dude must have been a good father if his kids not only don't hold his decision against him, but are strong enough and wise enough to know what he was going through and to want to help others who may be experiencing the same. In a way Chester was doing that for his fans through his music and let others know they were not alone. One of the main reasons why a few fans ended up killing themselves afterwards. To say and push the idea that he was selfish is not only ignorant but totally goes against any efforts made to advance education and understanding of depression, anxiety, and any other mental condition that may torment some one
selfish enough to think just about him and his "suffering"
Read your comment again and actually think about that statement: do you believe he wanted to think about his misery? No, it's not healthy to do that to yourself, hence why it's called a mental illness. Why is this shit so hard for you to get your head around?
Good work young man! I feel for you and hope you have managed to find some comfort in the hardest part of your so far short life. (Fuckin hope its the hardest part anyway)
