John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono has ruled out using modern technology to perform a beyond-the-grave "duet" with the late Beatles legend.

Janet Jackson wowed the audience at the MTV Video Music Awards last September by using a screen projection of her late brother Michael to sing a song with him.

But Ono has dismissed suggestions she could do the same with a Lennon track - insisting it would sully his legend.

In an interview with the Indie Rock Cafe website, she says, "I respect too much John's music to do something like that."

In other news, before the end of the decade, Beatles fans will have a new book in their hands: a memoir by Yoko Ono revolving around her life with John Lennon.

According to Yahoo! UK, the autobiography will also focus on the duo's intense relationship, the myths surrounding her role in the Beatles' breakup, the bed-in for peace, Lennon's infamous "Lost Weekend" and more.

Thanks for the report to Yahoo! News.

Somebody go get Courtney Love in here, and tell her to bring a pad and pencil.

Yeah and she probably exacerbated the tension between two self-absorbed musicians. I respect John and Paul's work but why does everyone seem to count them as their favorite Beatle?

It's a book of her memoirs; it's about her. John might be in it too, I bet he was sort of important to her life.

And even their interviewers aren't decent journalists, so the site really has nothing without relying on other websites for news.

It would be insulting because he's dead. Using his recordings to engineer something so ridiculously fake would only amount to a publicity stunt. I don't blame her for not wanting to sell out her husband's legacy. I think people are too hard on Yoko. Yes, she should not have been working on their records, but most people overlook the fact that John brought her into the studio regardless of what everyone else wanted, even if Yoko didn't want to go.

I love Yoko Ono. People who hate on her aren't familiar with what she's done. She wasn't just some chick whoring off of John Lennon (she has mad respect).

..and? is putting her feeling and experiences into a biography disrespectful? no not in any way but i really respect Yoko for turning down a shot in the limelight(no matter how breif) to not risk soiling john's memory

Indeed, apart from the interviewers as you said, and some CD reviewers and columnists.

Good to hear. Though I do wonder how it would've come out. Kinda interested in the book too.

This is a victory. The tall tales of Yoko breaking up the band need to be dropped a little. The guys had their own problems and I'm sure she added to it, but she's not responsible for them not having their s*** together. I think this goes to show that she is a caring person who if anything, has always loved and respected John, something any Beatle fan should appreciate.

This. Still doesn't change the fact she used to be a selfish, pretentious bitch.
