Ultimate Guitar

Paying a tribute to the ultimate guitar God Jimi Hendrix and his eternal musical impact, a group of axemen extraordinaire led by Buddy Guy, Zakk Wylde, Eric Johnson and more will be embarking on an Experience Hendrix 2014 Tour during spring. Also included on the concert trek is Hendrix's bassist Billy Cox, as well as Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Dweezil Zappa and Stevie Ray Vaughan's bassist Chris Layton. The tour's eighth edition will kick off on March 11 in Dallas, Texas, and venture forth until the final show on April 3 in Detroit, Michigan. "It's always a great thrill and honor for me to play Jimi's music for audiences now just as it was in the 1960s," Cox said in an official announcement. "The Experience Hendrix tours have shown how timeless this music really is and is just wonderful that we've continued to get an infusion of new, very enthusiastic artists to participate and are able to offer the most wide-ranging Jimi Hendrix-related repertoire possible." Buddy Guy stands out as another musician on the bill who had the opportunity to perform with Hendrix. As he remembers, "We became pretty close from that night on and every time I went through New York or somewhere he would show up and we would jam together. That’s still kind of happening on the Experience Hendrix Tour." The rest of the bill includes Cesar Rosas and David Hidalgo of Los Lobos, blues rocker Eric Gales, Doyle Bramhall II, funk icon Bootsy Collins, Mato Nanji and Serbian axelady Ana Popovic. This is a really good lineup. Considering going to the Detroit show. One thing though, Chris Layton was SRV's drummer, not bassist.
They are missing STV... Then it would be perfect tribute to Hendrix.
