Metal is better than pop, right? We loved this heavy metal version of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe". What was once a catchy pop tune is suddenly the dream metal band: awesome riffage, heavy drums, but a pretty front woman to boot.

We want you guy to link us to more awesome metal pop covers.

A grindcore version of Britney Spears? Hardcore punk Ke$Ha? We want to hear it. Hell, a pop version of metal songs could be fun too, but we doubt it'll sound as good.

Share your links to the songs in the comments, and meanwhile, enjoy this little ditty for Miss Jepsen. Not bad!

How about a mashup instead, Metallica ft Stevie Wonder - Sad But Superstitious

My favorite mash-up ever. Not metal, but still heavily distorted.
"I guess we've been..." *puts on sunglasses* "...Rock 'n' Rolled." YYYYYEEEEEAAAAHHHH!!!!!

I saw this band actually do the lyics of superstition over sad but true, there called the ugly stick and it was ****ing awsome, there bass player plays his bass in the same position as you would a violin and he play's just the sweetest slap riffs.

Not exactly a cover, but... pretty good. Lady Gaga is one of my guilty pleasures, and puttig heavy guitars over the song was pretty cool.

Sorry for double posting. This is by Travis Montgomery (currently in Threat Signal) and this is the epitomy of badassness

Andy Rehfeldt's youtube channel has tons of good genre bending covers, including the call me maybe one in the article

I'm not ashamed to say that the song is worse this way. It sounds better with pop music, using this as a reference. That's not to say that it couldn't sound better than this, though, because the music in the metal version here is horrible. If that's what you call awesome riffage, UG, then you're liable to enjoy practically any other modern metal song you ever hear that could even vaguely be classified as metal, because that's what it sounds like - the music is extremely generic, in the worst way possible.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that this isn't Rehfeldt's best work. But you should check out his other stuff. Some of it is truly great.
