"Black Ice", AC/DC's first studio album in almost eight years, has entered the UK album chart at No. 1. According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, "Black Ice" which arrived in the U.S. on Monday (October 20) exclusively at Wal-Mart stores, Walmart.com and ACDC.com is reportedly blowing the doors off of the retail giant. Sales for "Black Ice" are outpacing the Eagles' first week, which was also a Wal-Mart exclusive. Estimates for first week are currently ranging upward of 800,000, which would make it the biggest Sony BMG release in the past two years. "Black Ice" is also scoring huge sales figures around the world, with an initial shipment of more than 2.1 milllion. The biggest territories are Germany (550,000), Canada (344,000), the UK (227,000), France (209,000) and the band's native Australia (202,000). What's more, the European and North American legs of the "Black Ice World Tour" reportedly sold out in a matter of minutes, while worldwide catalog sales on the year are a split hair short of 5 million units. Wal-Mart has reportedly purchased 2.5 million copies of "Black Ice" on a no-return basis. The band's last effort, 2000's "Stiff Upper Lip", sold 131,000 copies in its first week of release and has shifted more than 900,000 units to date. AC/DC have sold 26.4 million albums since 1991, when SoundScan first began tracking record sales. A four-minute video clip featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the new AC/DC video, "Rock 'N Roll Train", can be viewed here. The clip was shot on August 15 in London, England. Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

I am so flabbergasted by this album... it was just so awesome! Who would have thought that about 35 years later, this Australian rock band can still bring an awesome sounds to our ears... I'm only 17, and started listening to AC/DC about 5 years back... In those pas 5 years, AC/DC has changed my life, that's how mazing they are. And to all of you people out there who just rag and rag on AC/DC - I am truly sorry - sorry for you.

cheers for that. the school uniform is an iconic rock image, like brian may's hair!! they're awesome at what they don and have never tried to change the world with their music. u dont like it? BUY SOMETHING ELSE THEN!!!

As an aussie, I feel compelled to like these guys, but really, they've been playing the same song for 30 years! Any other band would be torn to shreds for being as stagnant as AC/DC. Full respect for what they've achieved, but I won't be buying.

Finally got a chance to hear this album last night. Really good stuff! They stuck to their roots while still branching out a little....there's a track towards the end of the album where Angus does some slide work that is pretty tight! Welcome Back AC!

The album is good, probably the best since TRE. Good that AC/DC is n1 again and not the crap ppl call music these days

Great, I'm proud of my fellow Germans As for the Album...a was a little disappointed at first but since then the Album really grew on me. Now I even like it better than the SUL Album. On Black Ice, most songs are not as intuitive as we're used to it from ACDC. They really need to grow on you - but once they are you'll want to come back to every single song since each one has distinct little sections and licks you wanna hear again and again.

TheJudasKiss : Angus has to be the oldest school boy ever. These guys are over the hill and beyond but they're still one of the most badass bands out there.
He can't be the oldest Schoolboy ever. He's Young, Man.

800,000 in one week is colossal considering Stiff has only sold 900,000 to date in the US>
