AC/DC Forced To Halt New Album

Serious illness seems to have put the new album from the classic rockers on hold, but there's hope it will continue later in 2012.

AC/DC Forced To Halt New Album

The forthcoming AC/DC album has been put on hold after a member has been secretly nursing what seems to be a serious illness. "One of the boys is a little sick and I can't say anything, but he's getting better," frontman Brian Johnson told The Cowhead Show (via HenneMusic). "He's doing wonderful. Full recovery fully expected." The band hopes to continue recording later in the year when the particular member is feeling better. If anything, the band will be grateful just to continue, after feeling in the past that they wouldn't last much longer. "It's a wonderful thing when we get in a room," says Brian. "Whenever the boys get back together, I get all excited. The boys, after a while, pick the guitars up, Phil [Rudd] will make his way to the drums, Cliff [Williams] will pull his bass out and then all of a sudden this noise comes out and I sit there with just this big old grin on my face. It's pretty cool." Last year, Johnson had to cancel a solo tour after having to undergo surgery. HenneMusic report that he will have to undergo wrist surgery following the Rolex 24 endurance race at Daytona International Speedway at the end of January. He is raising to raise $1 million for pediatric cancer through his "Highway To Help" text campaign. Listen to the full interview with Brian Johnson right here:

That's awesome that they're already working on a new album. Will probably be their last tho.

Looking forward to actually hearing the new stuff- and of course hope that everyone in the band is fine and well soon enough! Already had too much bad news in too little time- what with Tony's cancer, and Mark Reale dying. As for all the albums "sounding the same"- imagine you went to your local pub, ordered a pint of your favourite beer and you got a pint of something completely different. You'd be disappointed more than anything. AC/DC is kinda like that- you don't buy the album to see what new sound they'll have next; You buy it because it's AC/DC and you friggin' love Rock an' Roll!

I'm not really sure what everyone who complains about AC/DC wants them to do? After almost 40 years as a band, what exactly would they change their sound to? Surely there'd be just as many people complaining if they did that. At least with AC/DC, you don't get everyone bitching about "they need to go back to their roots." Black Ice was a fine album, with a few usual anthems, as well as the underappreciated "filler" material. Sorry, but Angus pulling out a slide is probably the most variation you're ever going to get out of this band, and I wouldn't have it any other way. You want variation, hit shuffle.

To be fair, that's not true. You'll have to grab some filler tracks from only the albums since The Razor's Edge, put them on shuffle, and that will be what the new album is like.

lolol. So true. The only appeal AC/DC has now is the fact that they're AC/DC.

Oh shit like I'm gonna give a **** if I hear Black Ice pt. 2. Not like they redid the same album over and over again.

AC/DC's a formula band, they make the music that comes natrual to them and that's why they're as big as they are. I'd be more pissed off if AC/DC went in some ridiculous new direction than if they gave me the same kind of stuff I'm used to.
