Aerosmith will release "Tough Love: Best Of The Ballads" on May 10 via Geffen Records. The track listing for the CD is as follows: 01. Angel 02. Amazing 03. Love In An Elevator 04. Cryin' 05. What It Takes 06. Rag Doll 07. Crazy 08. Deuces Are Wild 09. Livin' On The Edge 10. Blind Man 11. Janie's Got A Gun 12. Dream On The Hollywood Reporter reported in early February that sales of Aerosmith's greatest-hits collections had increased more than 250 percent as a result of Steven Tyler's appearance on "American Idol" as a judge for the show's tenth season. The band's 1994 compilation "Big Ones", saw increased sales of 260 percent after the show's January 19 premiere. Meanwhile, 2004's "Devil's Got A New Disguise: The Very Best Of Aerosmith", got a 146 percent boost after week 2 of "Idol". Two more greatest-hits collections registered surges of 137 percent and 147 percent. Likewise, Aerosmith's "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" single was downloaded 34,000 times for the week ending January 30, an increase of 363 percent. The band's 1973 hit "Dream On" saw 26,000 downloads, which represented a 318 percent spike over the week before. Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton recently told the Boston Herald that Tyler believes he has the time and energy to continue fronting the band while also being a judge on "American Idol". Hamilton explained, "Steven's been very emphatic in saying that the way his time is arranged on the show leaves room to work on a record. He's been taking great pains to remind everybody of that, so hopefully that's the way it will come out." Hamilton said he'd never watched "American Idol" and that the band found out about Tyler's involvement from its management. Guitarist Joe Perry voiced his displeasure in public, calling the program "one step above ('Teenage Mutant') 'Ninja Turtles'". Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

Well even into the 90's Aerosmith still wrote their own songs. But even at the same time they did have people who helped them write their songs. But their latest album I think they wrote nothing, except Tyler wrote 1 little part of a song

Some great songs but not a ballads album. If I was in charge of song selection I'd choose the following 1. Fly away from here 2. Sedona Sunrise 3. What it takes 4. Deuces are wild 5. Angel 6. Crazy 7. Cryin 8. Hole in my soul 9. Ain't that a bitch 10. Fallen Angel 11. What it takes (Live) 12.Dream On (Live at MTV 10 awards) I've prob missed a few but better than the current choice I reckon.

WOW! Christ with the past couple of years that went by they could of had at least 3-4 albums out! The 40th Anniversary is creeping up and they should of had alot of material done but no Steven would rather appear on a show to BROADEN the audience, no wander Aerosmith don't get the recognition they deserve, to much wanna be fans that hound the songs like "I don't want to miss a thing" "Crazy" "Cryin'" have they not heard the earlier stuff...It to does amaze me that this band once made good hard rock songs but have reduced to bring out completions, i wouldn't mind Live Albums, DVD once in awhile...this band gets me fricking annoyed!

From the mid eighties on they had songwriters.

I don't wanna miss a thing, seriously.. Yeah, I know overplayed and maybe some of you might think over-rated, but still, I think they missed a thing (lame joke) Amazing was just amazing IMO

what the F*CK?!?! i love aerosmith, but I am so sick of these freaking greatest hits album. Its getting ridiculous. How about working on the new album we've been hearing about since honkin' on bobo... is that so much to ask ?

I DON'T WANNA MISS A THING????? In my opinion it's the most sappy, lovey-dovey ballad they have.

All of these songs are on "Big Ones." lol. And yes, less than half of them are ballads. Disgrace

Like everyone else said, this is basically Big Ones with a few different tracks. Just get Big Ones, or if you already have it, buy the tracks it doesn't have, on Amazon or ITunes and save yourself a few bucks.

Anything for Steven Tyler to make money. This dude use to be my idol. Now he's just and old money grabbing sell out.

I am disappoint. For the most part, the only Aerosmith songs after their Rocks album I like are their ballads, and this "Ballads" compilation contains a bunch of non-ballads. What a joke

although they have wicked ballads, why would i want an entire cd with nothing but broken heart songs? Also love in an elevator and ragdoll are NOT ballads
    NoMoreNoMore66
astheniago : What happened to Mia, You See Me Crying, Home Tonight, Seasons Of Wither...
This compilation is being released by Geffen, so the songs on it are only from their Geffen albums. I'm assuming Dream On will either be live, or they bought special rights to use it. Their ballads are good and its great to these legends getting more attention at such a late point in their career, but i do agree that there is definitely overkill in regards to Aerosmith and compilations

How many of these do they need to release? I am a HUGE Aerosmith fan (70's), but they need to focus more on their older, 70's just pure rock n' roll brilliance! The ballads from that time were incredible too.

I don't think I would have ever called "Love in an Elevator" or "Rag Doll" ballads.
    JackalUK
I would prefer them to release the new album they are supposedly working on rather than yet another compilation CD.

this is a Geffen's release, so you get Geffen-era material or live versions of Columbia-era material from Geffen released live albums.

I love Aerosmith and there ballads are great, however I woudn't really say that Rag Doll, Livin' on the edge, blind man, love in an elevator and Janie's got a gun are ballads

Just buy Areosmith's Big Ones album for Christ's sake, all the 85% of the songs listed here are from that album

I died a little inside reading this. I'd rather have an album that played Back in the Saddle twelve times

"one step above ('Teenage Mutant') 'Ninja Turtles'". Sir... don't mess with TMNT (of the eighties)
    WiZoRZ
not so much of ballads, but the tracklist is awesome.. just useless to do another best of imo
    dikkgozinya
Fallen angels should have been on there. I wish they used songs that not many people actually listen to

Love In A Elevator, a ballad? WTF?! On the other hand, What It Takes, one of the greatest

You took the groan right out of my mouth. Lol at "Love in an Elevator" being included here. Why not just call it "Aerosmith: The Worst of"?

Here's an idea. Let's release the same shit everyone's already had for years, put it on a cd that already exists on our greatest hits cd, and release it on one called "ballads". Let's make people pay money for shit they already have and have had for years!
