Anthrax Finish 'Most Emotional' Album

Anthrax have described their new album "Worship Music" as the "most emotional" music they've ever made. The follow-up to 2003's "We've Come For You All" will feature reunited member Joey Belladonna on vocals. The album was originally recorded with vocalist Dan Nelson, but has since been re-worked with Belladonna back on board. Nelson left the band in 2009. In a recent interview with SoundSpike, Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante revealed: "This [record] is years in the making. It's finally at the end stages of it all." "I'm very happy", he added. "This record is like a labour of love in all the different ways that it took to get here. A lot of blood, a lot of sweat, a lot of tears. It's very emotional to get to this point. Nothing's fabricated here. It's all based on truth. This record is probably the most emotional record that we've ever had to make." The band's guitarist Scott Ian recently uploaded some video from the studio under the title "More New Anthrax". Scroll down to view below. "Worship Music" is tentatively due in September.

I would be happier if they had John Bush Back on vocals, But that's just me.

that riff kind of reminded me of Lamb of God, maybe like a song that just never made it on to sacrament.

Let me get this straight; the very existence of someone being in a band makes it "core", not the riffage/song structure? And it's not like band members can put aside religious differences to make music... oh no. Slayer is all Satan, all the time. Someones gotta tell Araya otherwise. Europe is full of pinko swine, what, with their brutal metalz and what not.

whoa...I didn't expect the word 'emotional' from Anthrax..Also, what's with the comments? If you think this is like a7x (yea a7x cause I LOVE them) then you've never heard any of their songs; Afterlife is nowhere near this heavy. I think it sounds more like an Anthrax version Death Magnetic maybe

Yep, why now everyband loves that "chum" "chum" "chum" stuff?? where's the sharpness, where's the attack?, Anthrax should know that they're a thrash band first than all, a sharp guitar sound sounds more aggressive to me than this "new" sound used only to appeal to new generations

Thats the whole psychology of it, cuz the metalcore/crap ripped off thrash bands in the first place so it shouldn't be surprising if it 'sounds' like that. But its most def got that 80's thrash sound.

Emocore is actually a mostly dead genre that hasn't been popular since the early 90s. Think bands like Orchid, Indian Summer, etc etc. Emo =/= emotional emo = emotive. They sung mostly about surreal oddities. Either way. New Anthrax sounds okay. Not Persistence of Time great, but not bad in any way.

Rob is the best thing to happen to 'Thrax since Bush *shakes fist* left.

that riff made me think of in defense of our god name by lamb of god....

I was expecting it to be like classic Belladonna era with a twist, but I wasn't expecting something like that...

the first part of that riff really sounds like afterlife, doesn't sound like classic anthrax, but what the hell, it ain't to bad either

i think they're refering to the making of the album, not the music itself. anyways, can't wait. saw joey B on the american carnage tour and his voice blew me away.

yeah, it kinda reminds me of Avenged Sevenfold too. I dunno, I feel like it'll end up being pretty good.

... it better be ****ing good. 8 Years later... and I hope the whole album isn't like the video clip. WCFYA was an okay record. but after 8 years I'm hoping they realize that it wasn't a TRUE Anthrax record. Plus the return of Joey made me think it'd be back to thrash roots. Guess not, I'll just keep waiting and find out. it's a sick amp either way behind Scott. does anybody know if you buy it without the Penta-Thrax on it?

Gonna be seeing Anthrax at Heavy TO this Summer. Except Scott Ian's wife is expecting in early-mid July with there first born. Hope he can make the show. Rumor has it He's being replaced for 8 shows in July.

    I forgot, Anger isn't an emotion /sarcasm
    shelovemyguitar
Haha music is basically emotions put in melodies. Anger, rage, sadness, happiness, whatever. I think this whole emo thing is retarded...
    Cowless
This album will probably be full of anger... that's an emotion too, guys.

takearide wrote: "Emotional" Album, come on..... That just sounds gay. yeah because only gays have emotions. Yeah putting emotions into an album makes it emo straight away. This must mean that master of puppets was an emo record right, cause they all put their emotions into the music. Not to mention Paranoid by Sabbath, thats a hell of an emo record, all those emotions. Dont forget Great Southern Trendkill by Pantera, they put emotions into that one too, a classic emo album that one.
