Avril Lavigne Announces Marilyn Manson Collaboration

Canadian singer confirms Marilyn Manson as a special guest singer on her upcoming studio album.

Avril Lavigne Announces Marilyn Manson Collaboration

There seems to be no boundaries in the music industry these days. Collaborations between stylistically different artists happen more often than ever, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Marilyn Manson will make a special guest appearance on Canadian pop rock sensation Avril Lavigne's upcoming studio effort. According to Lavigne, shock rocker will be featured on a "heavier song" titled "Bad Girl." The record itself was described as a diverse one, varying from pop-rock to the heavier stuff. "The record's really diverse," Lavigne tells Billboard. "We've got these pop-rock tunes, and then these piano ballads with orchestras. I have a heavier song that Marilyn Manson's on called 'Bad Girl,' and then I've got a song called 'Hello Kitty' that sounds like nothing I've done before. 'Here's To Never Growing Up' is one of the rock tunes on it, but it's all over the place." The yet unnamed follow-up to 2011's "Goodbye Lullaby" was already announced with the release of the new single "Here's To Never Growing Up." Co-written by her fiance Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, the song features an interesting line "Singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs." When asked to explain such a line, Lavigne simply said "Creep!" Speaking of marriage, Steel Panther were officially confirmed as Kroeger's and Avril's wedding band. The comedy glam rockers have revealed they will be crashing the couple's wedding with appropriate hits such as "Asian Hooker," "Gold Digging Whore" and "It Won't Suck Itself," a 2011 hit track featuring Kroeger himself on vocals.

Lavigne and Manson? Madness. What's next, Metallica and Lou Reed?

In all seriousness, her earlier albums are pop-punk gold, and I am not ashamed in the least to listen to them. But that song...just no. Thats what happens when Chad "the Kroeger " Kroger is involved on your album. Im interested in the Manson collaboration though

Yeah, Kroeger is pretty much trash. On another note I personally wouldn't mind "collaborating" with Avril either

To be fair, Avril Lavigne has been going downhill for years now, long before she met Kroeger.

Really? I'd say she's lost a lot of relevance in today's pop music culture, but certainly not gone downhill. I mean her last album was pretty good in my opinion.

I bet next we'll see: "Thom Yorke not amused about his band being mentioned in an Avril Lavigne song"

I have got to see Steel Panther at the wedding - something tells me they're not taking the event too seriously...

'Here's To Never Growing Up' is one of the rock tunes on it, but it's all over the place." I've listened to that song... if that's rock nowadays you can rape me in the butthole. the song just shows she wants to be so much more pop then she ever was. I bet the marilyn manson song won't be something "heavy" but more something like her old pop-punk stuff.

Sounds like ****ing ke$ha or some shit. Awful. That is NOT rock song, straight forward crap pop

Arg. I dig Manson, he might have been a tad sloppy in recent years, but i didn't quite think he had reached this point. Makes me abit of a sad panda.

These kinds of collaborations are good. People who may not necessarily listen to marilyn manson may take interest after hearing him on an avril lavigne track (and vice versa). Anything for widening peoples musical taste is great.

English not being my native language, it would be very interesting to know what is wrong with that expression. I just couldn't figure it out. Thanks!

I was hoping that they were going to do a collaborative effort on "Stinky Britches"

hate on her music all you want...i never cared for it one bit, never listened to it except when that "complicated" song was on the radio all the time back in the day but i won't say a word insulting cuz i still hold on to a early pubescent crush. she's a babe.

I'll admit, I like her older stuff, I like punk-pop, yeah yeah yeah... But that song? It sounds like something Ke$ha would "sing".
    sikorad15
i agree. but wouldnt it be easyer to type it sucks. cuz that means the same thing (take that ke$ha)

They should start doing some crazy cross overs, like each artist re-recording the other's songs, like two seperate greatest hits albums.

I love this article because it confirmed that both Avril and Manson are actually still alive.
