After Damon Albarn performed a supposedly new Blur song a few days ago, it was only a matter of time before fans of the band got more of a solid, official announcement concerning the release of new studio material from the group.
As it turns out, Blur recently made a slightly enigmatic announcement via two posts on their official Twitter. Both of them contained the message "7.15pm (BST) / 2nd July"; the first contained a picture and the words The Puritan, while the second came with another picture and the words Under The Westway.
Since it is now well-known that the band have been working on new material, it's reasonable to assume that these two titles refer to new songs/singles, set to appear in some form on July 2nd. As for the pictures, it's hard to tell whether or not they're actual artwork, as a third image popped up on Facebook, hinting that these might be just for promotional use.
As Blur's Twitter suggested, we'll "be there" on July 2nd to find out. The band are also set to close out this year's Olympic games with a concert at London's Hyde Park. Prior to that, there will be four warm-up concerts.
Thanks to Antiquiet for the report.
