Rock supergroup Chickenfoot first announced that they were beginning work on their second studio album, "Chickenfoot IV", back in January. The band hasn't wasted any time since, and after having to work quickly in the studio because of drummer Chad Smith's busy schedule, it looks like the record is finally done.

The band's bassist, former Van Halen member Michael Anthony, recently turned 57. Anthony released the follow news about the album and its sound on his birthday via his official Facebook page:

"Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes! The only thing that makes my day better is that mixing on the new Chickenfoot CD is done! It's a lot heavier than the first record and I can't wait to get it out there!"

The bassist went on to talk a bit about when the new material and an upcoming single will be released:

"The first single should hit the airwaves sometime this summer with the full enchilada to follow in the fall. Stay tuned for all the details and we hope to see you all real soon! Mad Anthony."

I think they're just being quirky.

The first Album was decent, alittle hard rock. And this album is supposed to be heavier? Awesome!

I actually loved the first album, simple blues rock. The title makes no sense though

Meh. First album was very predictable and repetitive. Full of boring scales and uninspiring lyrics. And then Satch goes and releases killer album Wormhole Wizards mmmm.

EVH will always have his place in guitar history as a revolutionary. His break out onto the scene in the late 70's was and maybe still somewhat influential until today. Joe Satriani also has his well-deserved place in guitar history and music in general. To me, here is makes Satch very special. Satch is a brilliant musician, a respectful student of the music, a great teacher of the music, a team player, and above all accessible, integrated, and attentive to his fans. As a fan of music in general and guitar in particular, Satch = respect & positivity. As much as I enjoyed EVH way back in the day, I can't honestly say the same about him.... EVH is just... a talent consumed by ego and self-destructive behavior.

So ... basically it's gonna sound like Van Halen with a better guitar player?

I am laughing at how Chickenfoot has totally trolled UG's members. It has nothing to do with Led Zeppelin. They just wanted to mess with fans that look into everything like ALL OF YOU

I read in an interview, that they were going to name it Chickenfoot II, but Chad thought it would be funny to name it Chickenfoot IV, just to confuse people, as it has you guys

Precisely. They thought of naming it Chickenfoot II, yet they decided it to be joke and name it Chickenfoot IV. Look for the article in the Chickenfoot's news. It should be there

first album was a bit disappointing but i pretty much love every dude in the band as individual musicians so i feel like the first album was mearly them warming up and figuring out how to work together. i think this next effort might be a step up for them since they've had time to adapt to eachother. the whole process was probably easier for them. all in all i'm excited for a new release

if hagar doesn't write the lyrics it could be pretty decent.

Well, technically, the fourth Led Zeppelin album isn't even named that. It's just known as that because it's there fourth album and it has those four symbols.
