Children Of Bodom (also COB), the hard partying Finnish Heavy Metal band that features frontman and modern day guitar hero Alexi Laiho will release their new album Relentless Reckless Forever on March 8, 2011 via Universal Music. Today, COB reveals the album's cover art, which can be viewed now at this location. Recorded in Finland's Petrax Studios with famed rock producer Matt Hyde (Slayer, Monster Magnet), Relentless Reckless Forever is the seventh studio album of Children Of Bodom's illustrious career and the first new record from the band since 2008's Blooddrunk, which debuted at #22 on Billboard's Top 200 Chart and scored the quintet its third consecutive #1 debut in Finland. On Relentless Reckless Forever, COB's high-energy hooks and electric energy forge stadium-sized heavy metal anthems that seethe with both marvelous musicianship and a phenomenal pop prowess. The quintet's unique union of haunting melodies, rhythmic sensibility, guitar-and-keyboard interplay and king-size solos is supercharged to the maximum, and the resulting record is poised to push the band already on the brink of breakout success in the U.S. to an altogether new pinnacle. "We worked super hard on this album, at least for me it was pretty much no sleep or rest for six weeks," stated Laiho. "But we were determined to make the best COB album ever, so we were willing to do whatever it took. Of course, having our producer Matt Hyde kicking our asses 24/7 definitely made the results even better, so obviously we're more than anxious to get this album out there" The first single and video from Relentless Reckless Forever is "Was it Worth It?". COB shot a high energy music video for the track, joining forces with two-time X Games gold medalist and two-time Thrasher Magazine "Skater Of The Year" Chris Cole as well as noted pro skaters Jamie Thomas, Garrett Hill and Tom Asta (the current #1 Amateur skateboarder in the world). Filmed on location at central Pennsylvania's residential Action Sports compound Camp Woodward and directed by Dale Resteghini for Raging Nation Films (Pink Floyd, Santana, Mtley Cre), the video was shot guerrilla style, sans treatment; honing in directly on Children Of Bodom's high-spirited fire and the skaters' eye-opening execution. A high resolution trailer for the clip can be viewed now at www.relentlessrecklessforever.com. The track listing for Children Of Bodom's Relentless Reckless Forever is as follows: 01. Not My Funeral 02. Shovel Knockout 03. Roundtrip to Hell and Back 04. Pussyfoot Miss Suicide 05. Relentless Reckless Forever 06. Ugly 07. Cry of the Nihilist 08. Was It Worth It? 09. Northpole Throwdown 10. Party All the Time (* Eddie Murphy) "The single 'Was It Worth It?' is a total party song", said Laiho. "It's not your typical Bodom sound, but it's one of my favorites and heavy as hell." In addition to Laiho, Children Of Bodom features Roope Latvala (guitar), Jaska Raatikainen (drums), Henkka Seppl (bass) and Janne Warman (keyboards).

The whole skateboarding in the video is pretty lame. Makes them seem like they're going more towards that teenage angst image than anything else.

    I Agree

I'm worried now. I do like the artwork (aside from the way the title is written) but emo song-titles, no Bodom-murder reference song, and skateboards? This does not look good. I'll wait till I hear the album, but I have my doubts.

Keyboardist's name is actually Janne Wirman, "Warman" is just his old nickname.

Also, AYDY? was approaching on abysmal. Had a couple of hooks amongst the trash, other than that it was awful.

sensui666 : what the **** are people crying about they haven't put out a shit album yet and they are keeping it heavy and unique so stop bitching and album art is sick a different cant keep copy pasting a different color reaper on all albums. they should both start soloing though insted of just alexi it would be like sinergy again
Wouldn't say it has made me angry but what has definitely annoyed me is that what they've said is supposed to be in this album is not coming through at all so far. They said this had a more 'black metal'ish feel, more akin to their first album and more focus on atmosphere. We can only judge from what little we've heard so far but does not seem promising.

Yeah, you're right about people being trendy little bitches and trying to be moar-underground-than-thou, BUT: Dimmu turned in 3 turds in a row. First they fired Barker (uber-drummer), then re-did an old album and charged us full price. Then that In Sorte Diaboli *shudder*, followed by firing Mustis (a phenomenal composer) and Vortex (that clean voice was one of the best parts of their sound), then turn in Their newest shit-stain Abrahadabra. Cradle has had several turds too. Nymphetamine was not very good, and Thornography was ****ing terrible. Godspeed was kinda better, but this new one is FUCKING PWNZORZ tho!

Ok, was drunk when i heard this and commented. Looking at the album cover again, it doesn't seem so bad. I think it's the text of 'Relentless Reckless Forever' that puts me off more than anything. For the song titles it's really tracks 8,6,4,1 that seem really bad. They seem more like typical emo titles rather than their normal stupid/meaningless ones. Still not too happy about the short sample but really have to hear a longer clip to properly get a feel to the song.

ALEXI, PLEASE BRING BACK MELODY! It was your greatest strength as a songwriter. We get that you wanna be heavy, but goddamn dude, Blooddrunk was not listen-able. Hatebreeder, Follow the Reaper, and Hate Crew Deathroll were phenomenal albums BECAUSE THEY HAD GREAT MELODIES! Those albums/songs had DYNAMICS, interesting arrangements, good riffs, and FUCKING HOOKS! You weren't just trying to out-heavy everyone else, everything on "11" all the time. I understand that you're no longer into the Neo-Classical style (which is a very sad thing), but you are more than capable of writing melodies in other harmonic languages.

No he said he can't believe why so many people take a joke like that seriously... if you take a cover of a britney spears song by a metal band, where in the part where the music stops they start talking about beer, you are an idiot...

dude triple corpse hammerblow is a brilliant title playing on their band name. it references the THREE bodies found dead at lake BODOM from HAMMER BLOWS to the skull. you are stupid. and btw the artwork couldve been much worse
    K!!LsWiTcH
the riff itself isnt bad but the beginning of the video sets up a completely different kind of vibe so the intro line struck me really weirdly

I'm a huge bodom fan but those are some shit song titles, but lyrics has never been a priority for COB so I don't mind. Can't wait to pick this up and catch them on tour

I think a lot of the people who commented on this are opinionated asses! There... I said it! On a more serious note I'm looking forward to hear something new from COB. I enjoyed HCDR a lot and have watched my live dvd with COB countless times (I do prefer live material over studio work!). AYDY has it's moments but I still don't know what to think of Blooddrunk? Hope that this album will deliever some cool vibes btw, love that album cover

Even though I haven't listened to grunt/scream-containing metal for years now, I still think I'd check this out. Hopefully it's better than Blooddrunk, which actually was just a huge pile of heaviness. AYDY at least had some cool themes, even though it was a lot more mainstream than Follow the Reaper.

    1. Something Wild is C#F#BEG#C#, Hatebreeder, FtR, HCDr (mostly) is DGCFAD, NOT Drop-C. 2. For TRANSPOSED versions of Standard Tuning, we do not refer to them in concert pitch, but rather their original names. Otherwise, its WAY too confusing! lolz In ANY transposition of Standard tuning, the 1st & 6th strings ARE the "e strings", no matter how low or high we go. Guaranteed that Alexi was thinking "E Minor"when he wrote that shit, not C# Minor. 3. For Open/Altered Tunings, we DO refer to the strings in concert pitch. Drop-D, I've seen the 6th string referred to as the "low D". However, the above rule still applies. If we're in CGCFAD (Drop-C), it's STILL a "Low D" 4. I don't know about TRANSPOSED versions Open/Altered Tunings, tho. In DADGAD down a step, we probably still think like regular DADGAD, but I don't really know.

Dude .. you're on ultimate guitar , you should know they are now tuned in drop C . They don't have a freakin e string ... But I agree that Alexi should go back to a more melodic ground , he ****in ruled at that .

I'm shocked by the guitar sound. This album could really go more towards old bodom, they left out a lot of theyre "modern day" ballsy sound. I don'T know, well see.
